Follow or draw

Depends a lot on table speed. For me, draw speed is tougher to predict...

If you are simply asking which shot is easiest to execute (follow or draw), it's follow for me. Simply because one diamond of draw requires more swing speed in the stroke to accomplish than one diamond of follow.

Follow is natural and much easier to control. I'm going to shoot follow any day of the week. I try to use follow or stop/stun in my patterns if at all possible over draw.

I'll FOLLOW the rest of you. At that distance, I think it is a hell of a lot easier to roll forward a diamond than it is to draw it back one diamond. It takes a bit more "stroke" to cause the cue ball to go forward while spinning backwards than it does to keep the cueball going in a forward "follow" motion.

I think the question should be draw, roll or follow, because roll and follow aren't the same thing. Most people I know, including myself, don't like to roll the CB long distances.

On an 8 footer a soft roll is easy enough but if my stroke is a little shaky I might opt for draw. Depends on your comfort range but soft roll speed is more reliable.

Draw is generally better for getting from one side of the table to the other, follow is better for more precise position. Of course, the rule of thumb is to just use waht you need to get there.

On a 3/4 table length shot, I would probably use a slow drag shot to follow a diamond.
