Food at Valley Forge

wow now thats someone from philly talking... i couldn't agree more.. jims is the PLACE to go.... u have to order at least 3, 2 to eat there and 1 to take home... and if you did make it to the KOP mall, you would have done more then visit the cheesesteak factory, there are something like 500 stores that... at least then u would have gotten something for your money, instead of losing it gambling like some of us.,... :(

I found that this year the service at Chumley's stunk. Their food wasn't that great either. I did enjoy breakfast at the place next to Chumley's (I forgot the name "Sun" something I think?)
The service at Chumley's and the Grotto has always been extremely slow, at least for the 5 or 6 years.
The food is mediocre to excellent, depending on what you order. The problem is, you don't know which it is, until after it comes.

Nah, provolone cheese.

I didn't try the Philly cheese steak. But, I can heartily attest to the quality of the NUTS I was able to steal!!! :D

PRIOR to him doing that, he & ScottR were sitting with me in the pro arena eating my nuts.....
Does this whole line of Nuts talk really have a point? I mean, does anyone ever really own anything?

Bob, Eydie and I can attest to the mediocre cheeseburgers at 11 p.m. on Friday night. Eydie got the worst end of it and sent hers back.

Damn right i'm from Philly
For as much money as i've spent on Jim's in my lifetime, i could have opened my OWN Jim's by now.

Losing it gambling?!?!
You have to pick your bets CAREFULLY. You can't be standing in the thick of it betting on everything that moves for the entire weekend, and expect to survive.

What you need to do is start taking some of those 3/2 bets that some of those fools were laying on the racker, when you had 2 guys of the same speed playing.
In 9 ball, any type of odds given to get a bet on the racker, is flat out stealing.
BUT IN 10 BALL?!?!? You had TONS of games where the balls were clustered up, and each guy got a few innings at the table before someone actually won the game.
Say you took 20 bets on the racker, getting 3/2 of betting 50 to win 75.
If you broke even on bets, you still had that extra 250 from the 10 bets you won.

How people were giving away 3/2 on the racker just cause he wasn't breaking does not make financial sense in 10 ball. 9-ball, it is the lock, but 10-ball, they are just donating in the long run.

You guys need to forget everything, and go to the K.O.P. mall around the corner from the expo, and go to the CHEESECAKE FACTORY.
You might just bail on the expo, and sit there stuffing your face for the entire 4 days!

If it's got to be a cheeseSTEAK, then it's got to be WIZ WITH, and forget PAT'S or GINO'S, go to JIM'S! You go to Pat's and Gino's, your talking.... BLAND steak.
The Cheesecake factory serves you enough food in one sitting that it's almost possible to sit there for 4 days before you clean your plate. The food is delicious and they don't scrimp on the serving size at all.

I love cheese but I'm not a fan of "whiz". I've never bothered getting a cheesesteak at the Expo for just that reason. Gimme provolone! I did have a nice chicken cheesesteak at Chumley's this yr. I made the mistake of ordering a steak at the Blue Grotto.... the pic looked fantastic and when I got it, it was was a $7 steak that was as bland as hospital food.

I was only there a day and a half, and i went to the Cheesecake Factory twice!:D
Excellent food, and lots of it.

My understanding is that "authentic" philly cheesesteak's use a cheeze wiz, cheese sauce, product.
A real philly cheese steak comes standard with american or cheese whiz, although a few people like provolone. Cheese whiz is big down south philly. In most pizza places, it comes standard with american.

In St. Louis it is always Provolone or Provel cheese. Provel not well known outside of St. Louis and some pockets of Chicago. Its kind of a spicier/ softer cheese than provolone, less chewy, more creamy. But once you have it you will never want anything else. Best cheese for pizza, on your burger, and of course cheese steaks. Maybe I should bring my own to DCC this year. Hmm. Something to think about.
