Best food at a pool hall I ever had was at HighPockets in Memphis.

They grilled marinated chicken breasts and steaks are superb.

Call them, Tracy is the owner and a hell of nice guy.

Most around here, and I think the majority now a days, have full kitchens. Without a kitchen, I would think the options are slim, but can be done. One place used to make deli sandwiches, and also had pretzel with chesse, nachos, etc.

Catfish Platter, steak or chicken salad, chili, hamburger steak, all of the deep fried stuff, hamburgers....all types, fries, onion rings, oysters, shrimp, chicken wings, ribeye, pork tenderloin, Ruben sandwich, philly cheese steak, ham/turkey sandwich, baked taters, and a ton of other stuff........this is what I've had off the top of my head from there lately.

There is also one around here that has a full tex mex menu and American food. I love going to pool halls for lunch and supper. Plus I get to play while I eat.....LOL, but I mainly go for the food.

one of the reasons pool halls are going broke is that customers have nothing to spend money on in the place. no one comes in for garbage food.

I think nowadays you need a liquor license, a full kitchen, and a strong league to survive.

Here are a couple of places I look forward to the food.

Q Masters, Virginia Beach VA
Except for breakfast, I think almost all my meals at the US Open 9-ball was at Q-Masters. Great action, and even better food..

Castle Billiards, East Rutherford NJ
I used to play APA league here. They serve burgers, and great wings. I usually check John Trobiano, the owner for the daily specials

Steinway Billiards, Astoria NY
I think I look forward more to the food than to Earl, Jayson Shaw, or Zion play. Steak dinner and finish it off with Tiramisu for dessert. If you ever eaten at a diner, then Steinway is a Greek Diner with a pool hall attached.

I could be wrong, they also catered the 14.1 Hall of Fame dinner every time the 14.1 championships are hosted at Steinway.

smoking

I Have To Ask How.Many Of Your Halls Allow Smoking. My League Hall Has Gotten Better About The Food But The Smoking Makes Everything Less Palatable.

Here's my local favs from three different pool halls.

Bacon wrapped and deep fried chicken livers.

Club sammich.

Catfish dinner.

3 cheese grilled cheese on thick slices of bread.

I agree with the liquer license/beer point. Gaurantee i will stick around a pool hall twice as long if it serves drink. Our local places only serve chips and sandwiches and stuff, but ive always wished they served philly cheese steaks hot Reuben sandwiches. Both i think are fairly easily prepared, cant see it being hard to set up to serve them

Sam's Billiards serves both Phillies and Reubens. They also have a good, spicy chicken alfredo.

Wow, thanks for the responses. Some of those choices are not what I would have expected, oysters and Ruben sandwiches, sure beats the pretzels and nachos at my pool hall.
And yes I would agree that many pool halls need to up there food selection, I was in DC and went to a pool hall that was rocking with good food and sandwiches, It seems the east coast has there food game on.
Thanks again.

The Jointed Cue in Sacramento has great food. German Sausage sandwich, cheeseburger, breakfast menu for the mornings, ice cream and milkshakes. It's a diner style bar in the front of house with stool seating. The Hotdogs are the best though! They take small cuts on one side of the dog, so when they throw it in the deep fryer it curls into a circle, then it's a matter of serving it just like a burger!

If there's one business that has a higher failure percentage than pool halls, it's restaurants.

My local place serves a typical pool hall menu: burgers, hotdogs, chili, fries, all the fried appetizers, etc. The bartender brings her own salad from home for dinner even though she gets free food.

i play at caspers billiards in san leon, texas. they have some pretty good food there. mostly southern cooking along with seafood. pretty legit stuff there... too much to list.

Most of the places I shoot have full kitchens and serve burgers, wings, taco's, pizza ect.

One of my favorites when I have to work late and get to league and need the energy is a walking taco. I keep my hands clean and it's cheap. :)
