Thanks for the kind words Glen. I would just everyone to know that Glen isn't as obnoxious in person as he is online. Glen is all about billiards. He has plans about starting a organization that helps billiard mechanics with training, getting group discounts and that sort of stuff. I often call Glen when I have a question or in a binding when working on a pool tables, carom tables or snooker tables. I'm sure he is willing to answer anyone questions if they called him for help. Glen is the master! I have been doing table in the southern CA area since I was 17, I turn 35 tomorrow. I haven't seen any other mechanic do anywhere near the type of work that Glen does, not even in the same league. thanks Glen for everything you have done for me and I look forward to more lessons.

by the way, my wife thought I was crazy working those weekends for free.
Does she still think that?:D :D

well brunswick is a little smarter than u think about slate and leveling! first reason 3 piece vs 1 piece is : 1 piece to heavy and to easily broken or chipped! 2nd the old school "master" billiard mechanics like myself, we can level the table before rails and after with a quarter and string line without a leveling system! and we dont have to have a steel level or depend on system to do a master job. this is just a gemick to help the dumb ass mechanics that do a shitty job! and it sells tables to people that dont know the difference! have a nice day! mark webb, in north texas and been working on tables for 40 yrs! thanks
Well sir, you just keep on trucking;) by the way, which end of the table has the horns on it?

I'd be willing to bet you sir, that without training, you wouldn't have the slightest clue how to level Diamond table with the leveling system used, so much for a gimmick...LOL

Next, what in the hell would YOU know about one piece slates?...YOU don't touch them anyway...LOL You have no idea what you're talking about with the breaking or chipping of the one piece slates Diamond uses...lmfao...and besides, I've seen the tables in your area...they're shit!

But maybe in another 40 years, you'll get it right, have a GREAT day;)

Barack Obama, the lead Presidential Democratic Party candidate, is for banning all guns in America He is considered by those who have dealt with him as a bit more than just a little self-righteous.

At a recent rural elementary school assembly in East Texas , he asked the audience for total quiet. Then, in the silence, he started to
slowly clap his hands once every few seconds, holding the audience in total silence.

Then he said into the microphone, 'Children, every time I clap my hands together, a child in America dies from gun violence.'

Then, little Richard Earl, with a proud East Texas drawl, pierced the quiet and said: ''Well, dumb-ass, stop clapping!'

Richard your son Mark?...LOL

I've never heard of using a string line and quarter, and I've been around pool, playing and fixing tables for 40 yrs. myself. I'm not saying you can't do it, I'm saying, I would like to understand more of what you are talking. Myself, I use 8 Starrett levels to save time dragging one all over the table. Not saying I'm right or you're wrong, When I'm done, the table plays pretty good every time. But, It's nice to hear so many different thoughts of mechanics.

P.S. Glen has really started a good thread.

It's a Texas thing Mark, I've seen plenty of tables set up using the string and quarter. Tie the string from corner to corner on both sides of the slate, then balance a quarter on the string, give it a little push....as it's rolling, if it falls off the string to the inside of the slate, the slate is swayback, if it falls the opposite way, it's crowned. And if it rolls all the way to the end of the string, then starts to roll back, that end of the table is high. I'd think about using more string and quarters though, so speed things up a little:rolleyes:

YOU ARE A FUNNY MF. :) :) :)
Man I wanted to hear his answer.
I've played plenty of pool in Texas, no comment.

Maybe my next trip, I'll match up on the tables you did, and protect my cash from the tables.

"I'm very disappointed with Triangle Billiards, Orange CA." Take a look at this thread Mark, you'll see what kind of mechanic work is normal in TX, between the mechanics there and the Triangle Billiards Retail store in California, they make a perfect match to screw a customer:rolleyes:

That's not bashing, that's simply letting someone know they're full of shit, when they have NO idea what they're talking about!;)

Nice try though;)
