Ring count

I know the photos do no justice. These were made into 1" boards in 1940-1950, that is 60-70+ years of aging. Being well aged, they are heavier and more dense than the snow whit wood that is available today. They are not lake salvage.
I was surprised to find how hard and dense it is.

I have more of this than I can use for myself. I am not interested in making shafts!
I just want to share this find with others.

Roger

I have been asked by several, the ring count.
10-12, 9-11, the one everyone think looks like curly maple-too many to count, the other 15-18.
Please do not ask ring count by number of shaft and keep in mind these are all less than 1".

The one that looks like curly maple , #4, will make a great break shaft. It has too many growth rings to even count.
Not all rounds are available.........

#4 sold.........Thanks Ken
one of the rounds -sold.........Thanks Clyde

Even the wood with lower ring count is stiff/dense.

#4 sold.........Thanks Ken

Even the wood with lower ring count is stiff/dense.

I can replace #4 , which has been sold, with a nice round 19-21 rings per inch, although the round is only .93-.95.

All three tapers and the Very Nice round.........$15.00 each plus $15.00 shipping to any mailing address in the lower 48 (US)......That is.....$75.00 shipped...no additional shipping fee.

Let me know what you are looking for........high ring count or straight grain.
This OLD GROWTH shaft wood is heavier and more dense than the snow white that you can buy today.

I have some old growth (1940-1950) hard rock maple shaft wood for sale. I have labeled the shafts by number and dimensions. These are ready for final cut and your taper.
$15.00 + shipping or $22.00 shipped

These are all straight taper pieces. I have labeled the shafts by number and dimensions.
I can not verify whether it is from 1940 or 1950, but they are old growth.
I got this wood in 1" boards.
I also have a few rounds that I can list a little later.
PM me if you are interested.
I will accept PayPal.
