It's a 2x4 with 1/4" foam line tubes inside 1/4" hdf sides and maple edges. It's not letting anything get damaged.

I've seen some round or hex/octa/round wood cases. I wondered why nobody made one like this.

Laminated wood tubes are available round, not oval. I've looked.

What are you doing with the bottom?

The bottom outside is checkered shoe rubber. Inside is foam with fabric..
