Yes it's finished but don't care for the Matt black.... Any one know the specs like does the felt on the rail stand up over the top rails.. Right now mine are flush....

I just measured my GC1 and the distance from the bottom of the featherstrip dado to the top of the laminate is 13/32".

New route

Think I'm gnu to remake the sides with birds eye maple and do the top of the rails in some crazy wood also.. 600 for a sheet of ebony I'm not gonna do it.. I can saw cut a slab for 125....

Formica

Let me tell you something people... On a gold crown one I don't know how they did it... I have been in the cabinet building ind for over 23 yrs. And the Formica on a gc1 is not ment to be removed. Some how they grew the Formica and the wodd under it together.. Because they are fused together.hehehehe.. Heat gun just pisses it off.... I had to maticoulously belt sand and hand scrape and long board the formica off. I have a cabinet shop with just about every tool known. I hope when anyone attempts to do this kind of resto. There ready for a battle...if you not good with a belt sander don't even try it.....let me tell you one word...(finnesse).
Good luck on who tries this on a gold crown one.....
