Today in the Dutch league, Roland Forthomme made a world record equalizing run of 28 in his match against Eddy Merckx (50 - 24 in 13). He is the third player to run 28, the first was Junichi Komori, the second Raymond Ceulemans.

Was that taped anywhere that we can see it?

Went to Kozoom.com to check this story out and found this:

One more remarkable detail.

Frans van Kuyk was there, on all three occasions that the world record was played. He himself was Komori’s opponent, in the same room where Forthomme played today, when the man from Japan was the first to run 28. He was Raymond Ceulemans’ teammate in the Crystal Kelly foursome when the legend equalized the record in 1998. And today, Van Kuijk was once again there, as 2nd player for TOVV, Snellen Recycling’s opponent.

Not to mention the fact that van Kuyk ran 27 himself, in Turnhout in 2010, and had a really easy 28th! He missed it, because he was doing too much work on the second ball, in order to make sure of #29. He told me: "I'd give 1000 euro instantly, if I could play that 28th again, just make it and take my chances".

Hey Erriep,

Stany is a superb cuemaker. I have cue collectors order Stradivarius cues from me but many U.S. players are not familiar with his craftsmanship. He is a nice guy and I hope he sells a ton of his new Octo Pro shafts. Not that he's not already busy making cues for the rest of the world!

Take care my friend.

That was pretty good

The run starts at 44 minutes into the video, he comes real close to ending the run at 7.

What a great ending on the last shot. The Gods said enough.

Hope all note the first 2 shots he took to get control.

Very awesome!!

The 28 run made by Junichi Komori was made in the same room (as Forthomme's) in Zundert, on Verhoeven tables. Ceulemans made his 28 in Waalwijk in 1998, also on Verhoevens.

A picture is worth a thousand runs!;)

I apologize for being ignorant but what, exactly, am I looking at ? The table looks as if it is in various stages of wet or dry. What is the significance of the balls on the towel ?
Thanks

Just a photo of a Verhoeven. Maybe this is better?
