hey yall just thought I would talk a little about my weekend road trip....
I ended up going on a little road trip for work with few guys had a few drop offs on sat so at 3 pm on friday we hit the road for the 5 hour drive to Grand Prairie. Well needless to say after we checked in to the hotel the first thing 4 guys in there 20s want to do is check out the local bars. At first there was no one playing any games on the bar boxes for anything more than bragging rights. but with a little fancy talk and a few flashes on the bank roll low and behold "the best player" found me. he wanted to start of small so we played for 5 a game. I got the first 3 and figured hell time to drop a couple and see what happens. So I sucker the next game lose it close. And just like in the movies this guy wants to bump it up a bit . so we hit a few for 10 a game, bar box 8-ball..well again I take a few racks and then dump one nice and close.. and he tastes his money coming back...so up it goes to 20 then 40 then 60 and finished out at 100 a rack next thing ya know the guys down like 1200.. and he is loving evey minute of it.. he tells me after the last game that he is tapped out for the night but says theres a little 9 ball tourney on saturday and says to meet him there cause he wants his money back and will bet what ever I can bring.... so I show up just as the tourney is ending we grab a table and start at 200$, race to 5 ,9 ball. I get 3 outta 4 sets. then his Backer shows he tries to muscle me out by going race to 7 for 500 a set. I get 2 sets on him and he goes for broke. over 2 days I am up 2600. he wants his money back bad so he ask to play one set to 13 for 2000. but he says he doesnt have 2 g's with him and to meet him back at 8 that night to play it up. and like a good boy he is therte on time and drops the set 13-5 so I have all his cash . and not only is he happy he wants me to call him any time I am in town so we can play again...
Thats what I call a good weekend

And he is happy about it. Hmmmm….. and then you woke up next to Pamela Anderson, right?

Sounds too good to be true, but then again I’ve seen people that were happy loosing money before. Never understood it though. It might be true that a sucker is born every minute but a happy sucker must be a rare thing.

When I was in college I used to have a group of
businessmen who would lose 20 to 50 dollars a day
( big money to me) and thank me for playing them.
So, yes Rick, it happens. I notice EVERYBODY seems
tighter with their money these days, however.

Hondo, is anyone truly happy about losing? Sure, we can exchange niceties and thank each other for playing. I think that’s the gentlemanly thing to do. But I’m never happy about losing. I accept it though and move on.

I’m just surprised that after several days of playing and losing to the same guy (a stranger), that he was happy about it.

Hi Guys,

Several years ago, a young guy showed up at Classic Billiards here in Rochester. He started small with me. Got him for a few hundred. The woman called and I excused myself after a few more sets, still up the cash. The next day, I arrived at the room hoping to see him. One of the other players there told me the kid went off big after I left to another local. It seemed he was the bass player in a big name blues/rock band playing in town that day. Rather than drink or drug himself into oblivion like his bandmates, he played pool. As he travelled around, he left lots of cash. Didn't care. He was sane and sober!
