the old days

I remember walking into Shootersville in Delray Beach Fl. There were 4 of these Searings in the display case. I thought 800 for a plain jane. I walked right by. If we only could see into the future. I would have bought all 4.

Good luck on your sale.

It's more likely your email server is limiting the size of your out bound emails.Try sending one or two pictures at a time or convert them to lower resolution (ie size)

Damn! Searing cues are worth more than Szamboti's???
I'd like to learn more about why this is the case, where can one find info on this subject?

Dennis' cues have always seemed to hold their value very, very well. His ability to craft some of the best playing cues, along with his insanely tight tolerances with regards to build quality, are legendary. He is easily considered a Top Tier Cue Maker.

Now, add to that supply vs demand, along with a long waiting list, which is now closed, and it pretty much explains it. Some people are willing to go top dollar to get their hands on one, and they are not often seen for sale on the secondary market. I would suspect that a lot of deals are done behind the scenes, likely amongst other Searing owners, or high end collectors.

Considering what the PJ's that have been offered for sale here have sold for, this one would appear to be a bargain. I know of one individual who after barely receiving his PJ Searing from Dennis, was offered in excess of $6K for his cue....he declined the offer. :yeah:

Good stuff ridethewind.

Not the right thread, but I'm curious how they match up against Black Boars (match up in all ways). BB seems to be the other maker within the last couple decades that has made a 'very' strong statement in this industry. Literally blowing past 99% of all other makers.

*edited to add R Haley to that top tier list*

The last Merry Widow I saw by Dennis was really just a conversion and was unsold for less than 2K. If the cue is unsigned, your in a different market. If its signed and in like new condition, the value is what the market will bear. Perhaps someone can help post the pix. Is the Searing cue signed?

IMHO, Dennis makes the best playing cues period.

Searing gives Tony Scianella (Black Boar) the 6 out in terms of playability.

Tony may be capable of some seriously intricate and (depending on your tastes) beautiful designs, but Dennis proved with the Searing Twins and a few others that his designs, his inlay capabilites, and his execution should never be tested because he can live up to that test.

To me, the difference is Dennis Searing's prices are set by the intense demand for his cues.

Tony's prices were set by a dealer and, if you ask me, are a bit too high. JMO

Not to nit-pick, but some of the newbies reading this may not know the difference...it was a house cue conversion sneaky pete and not a plain jane or merry widow. If memory serves, there were two of those conversion petes made, as a favor, I believe. It was because they were conversion petes and cues not completely crafted by Dennis himself that the cues were not signed....all his other cues are signed.

I would suspect that that cue did eventually sell, likely in a behind the scenes deal.

I would say this is pretty much right on the mark.

I believe the difference between the two makers is that with Tony, his focus is on making a very intricately designed, high end, high dollar cue...and playability is likely secondary. His target group are mainly collectors, as not many players can afford a $5K cue...which is his low end.

With Dennis, I believe his focus is on ultimate playability, with the intricate design work as an added bonus, should it be requested. Even his 'plain jane' cues can have very subtle little extras added. Just one look at his cues and the quality of the build is immediately apparent. It is because of his stringent build tolerances, that he crafts fewer cues per year than many others, and those lucky enough to have gotten one or two, hang onto them. And now his waiting list is allegedly closed. That is where the low supply, high demand comes into play...driving up the prices on the secondary market.

I am not sure if Tony is/was a player or not, but word is that Dennis is a player, and an A+ player at that. He knows what a cue should play like, and crafts them accordingly.

Did you buy it? I didn't know you're Searing/BB collector? You should post the cues you owned/won in cue gallery.

I've seen some of Deadon's collection in person. He's got some good s.hit!!!

i'm sure he can but the cost will probably be higher since he'd have to make it especially for right handed use.

Drop the 'word is' part.

Dennis is a MONSTER on the table.

This was from 2000. Florida Men's Pro Tour stop. Look at the crowd he toppled.

One of his 9 top 10 finishes that year.
