I like to give it a shot, Bill...

My first Billiards Digest magazine was a 2000 or 2001 edition with Corey Deuel on it wearing a Viking polo shirt exclaiming Rookie of the Year. Within those pages, I saw a picture of Robert Byrne and Raymond Ceulemans on it together as it was pronounced that both were inducted into the BCA Hall of Fame. In the side was another picture of Dick Jaspers overlooking Raymond stroking a shot frozen to the rail. I was your typical young 15-16 year old punk with 2 years of pool/trick shot skills on my background and continuing to experiment with other aspects of billiards. I further researched about this game. Friends would tell me how great Carom (or how they say in Spanish: Carambola) is as to how playing it and aquiring Carom skills into the pool table will get me better. After reseraching and following up on how these people play, YouTube existed in 2005. Strangely enough, that year was the first time I ever enountered a decent 4'x8' carom table. It was by no means the best -much more like a pool table gone converted; but either way, it is all we got. It is in this area called JJ Billiards in Mission, Texas (a.k.a. Tom Landry's birth place... coincedently where I was residing for my whole life). I feel in love with the game and been reading Byrne's books of Standard and Advanced in the carom section ever since. I have been a forum member since November of 2006 and an advocate of billiards of all kinds. Recently, I have been forced into a hiatus from billiards because I now reside in Dallas, Texas and I need to prioritze by starting to get my degree and start finding a house to live under for my own. Still, Bob, I NEVER will forget my roots as being a Carom Billiard enthusiast and hopefully a potential competitor later in the future. My dream is to one day (while having stability in other aspects of my life... house, family, financially) open up a building with many carom tables (of all forms of disciplines) and show the people exactly how this game is played and how it aquires into other forms of billiard disciplines.

Until I get my own laptop to start posting a whole lot,

My reasons for wanting it are simple: I would like to expand my horizons and I missed out on watching Sang, one of the best 3-cushion players of all-time, playing in my backyard. I have been blessed with watching Accu-Stats videos and being fascinated with true billiards, but never really knowing or understanding it.

As my game has matured, I'd love to learn and expand my horizons. Once it's all said and done, I would love to one day pay it forward as Bobby is doing with this book and DVD.

WAIT! Am I too late? The reason why I should win one of these books is....

My sister won the Gates Brown look-a-like contest. :eek:

OK, that was from an actual contest to give away American League playoff tickets in 1972 when the Detroit Tigers played for the championship. It was the funniest and most clever answer and won the tickets. I always wanted to use it.
