well close, super glue had stuck to ferrule while my morri was being installed, and while the glue was getting removed it formed a vase shape in the ferrule, should have just left the original tip on there.
The ferrule seems to be some really soft type of plastic.
It is not quite capped as the wood goes all the way through but the tenon coming out the end is really small.
With the quality of Melamine going way down, I suspect this is an experiment with a replacement material.
Interesting, Cueman. I had an issue with a new cue I had recently which was like this. I was letting a very good player hit with the cue, and every time he tried to throw a ball, he said it felt funny and did not move the ball much. I hit with it and noticed the same thing. I could not figure it out, so I decided I would change the tips and give that a shot. When I took the tip off, upon examination, I found that the cue had very small tenons on both shafts, and thick ferrules. I decided I would re-tenon the shafts, and put standard tenons and Aegis ferrules on them. When I did, I gave it back to the shooter (pro-level player). He liked the hit so well then that he bought the cue and made it his player. First time I had ever seen such small tenons, but they give and have a funny vibration on shots other than straight on. Anyone else out there with a similar problem?
