Most of the better players use long bridges. We know accurate tip placement on the cueball is the most important part of cueball control. A longer bridge magnifys stroke wobble so modern players are forced to employ a accurate stroke.
There also is some evidence that lower deflection shafts are better with a longer bridge.( See Dr. Dave for empirical evidence)

People with narrow shoulders can make longer bridges. Look at Alex Pags, and most other top players they all have narrow shoulders and can do that.

There are very few short arm wide shoulders champions. Rodney Morris and Mike Deschain are the 2 off the top of my head that have wide shoulders and average arms.

Even Mike Massey for his stature has relatively narrow shoulders.

When you have wide shoulders (I have extremely wide shoulders) I’d need a 65”+ cue to make a long bridge like Alex can.

Most people don’t notice this physical trait among top players. Efrens arms are super long, his hands hang way low. Long arms and narrow shoulders are more important than height (tall or short) in having the anatomy to be a “natural” player.
