Front balancing and Backward balancing cue

in my opinion, a cue should have just a touch, and i mean a TOUCH of foward balance,it helps propel the cue forward so your not fighting gravity.

Which is better? I heard backward balancing create more spin, is it true?
there is a variety of places in the butt that weight can be added to create different balance points and feels. it becomes a matter of preference which you might like. as far as i know where the weight is will not effect the amount of spin the stick can produce. forward weighted sticks can aid in keeping your stick more level by balancing the weight between your grip hand and your bridge hand. though there are people that prefer to have the weight close to, or right under their grip hand. for some this gives the feeling of a more pendulum stroke.

weight forward

in theory the weight forward helps with a smoother stroke, and less movement at the tip meaning more accurate shot making

From what I've read on the Easypooltutor forum, the maker of Sugartree Cues says that a front-balanced cue will help the cue stay on your bridge when using an open bridge. With a more backward balanced cue, the cue may come up and off the bridge when stroking due to more weight being on the rear of the cue. The front-weight would help it stay on the bridge thus helping the player stroke straighter.

Some good information here. A perfectly balanced cue for me is well front-forward. (19" inches or so balance point from the buttcap)

It's all relative, just depends on how you like to play.

Most good players do not like a butt heavy cue at all and nor do I.

I think any difference is so small, that it could easily be accounted for with a little practice.
