Frost pissed off the Lion, discussing pool etiquette

Pagulayan and Frost now playing LIVE on www.poolactiontv.com

BOTH are on the one loss side at the big one pocket event in Des Moines Iowa.

Frost wins the first game.

Nice. Go Alex!

That was a crazy match with both players staying close but playing poorly for 4 games, then Alex hit a gear and took off like a rocket.

Scott is disappointed I'm sure but he will be back soon competing against Efren Reyes for some large cheese July 11-14. That match will also be livestreamed by www.poolactiontv.com

Life can be so unfair sometimes.
Alex bought Scott's video....
...and he says he learns some shots every time he plays him.
...then he uses this knowledge when he plays him.

It's like borrowing ammunition off someone.....and then shooting them.

That's what I love about this game. Every rack you learn something new. This is why when I was growing up the old timers treated knowledge like a precious heirloom you had to pry from their cold lifeless fingers, they knew once you had it you were going to use it against them. Great line about borrowing ammunition, so true!

This is also why I never understood players that don't want to watch their opponents shoot. You can learn alot, even if it is just about the way the table plays, by watching your opponent shoot. If your opponent is better than you, you should be taking notes.

These small field high-money events are interesting. There are no (or almost no) easy matches. For players that are used to rounding into form as the tournament goes on, it must be tough. No ability to coast through the dead money until you have to start playing top gear.

Yes, you make a great point.

Preparation for these small field high-money, high-talent events is more important than ever. Heck, it looks awful tough even if they've prepared well.

I think having these type events on a regular basis will force each individual player to improve average level of play.

Big props to Ray Hansen of PoolActionTV.com for making these events so popular with the players and the fans.

Professionals

Pros have to be aholes and full of themselves- that's how they got to the top. Do you think Jordan, Ali, Ripken, Moss cared about what others thought about their 'style' of method of accomplishing greatness. Its the human condition and why I love pool so much because the greats have the 'it' factor more than if not equal to the other high paying professional sports.

Ettiquette is in the eye of the beholder and take it with a grain of salt in all aspects of life

Right. Because everyone knows Efren is an ahole and full of himself. .

And SVB. and Alex.

Pros have to believe in their ability. They don't have to be jerks - some are, some aren't.

I agree with Alex, he is a better player than Scott.

Scott was pulling a move, and it was effective as it got under Alex's skin.

Scott knows better and should behave better, it is unbecoming for a Champion to act in such a manner.

Reminds me of Tyson biting an ear in a desperation move.

I think if you look at the big one pocket event in Des Moines, Iowa at Big Dog Billiards kind of parallels what you said about Alex being a better player than Scott Frost.

Right now, 3 of the 4 remaining players are Filipino with Jeremy Jones fighting the fight for this side of the pond. Dennis Orcullo gave me some advice about becoming a better player when he was in town and the way the one pocket event is turning out, I have to think he is on to something.

Well, it looks like Alex pissed EVERYBODY off at the Big Dogs....
...went straight to the B-side first round and came back to beat Dennis twice in the finals.

It is tough one-hole at this level....Alex was on fire the last set against Dennis...5-0.
But Josh Roberts beat him 5-0 first round.....
...if you don't bring everything you got, you're going down in this field.

The two matches Josh lost were hill/hill.....he's gonna win one of those.

It is pretty interesting to see that 3 out of the 4 top places went to Filipinos. Jeremy Jones was the only American out of the four and he came in fourth place.
