I love AC's crisp, sharp points and detail. Nice looking cue, good luck with your sale. (All AC cues just had a modest price increase for 2006 and AC cues will now come with premium grade white maple shafts.)

Roger, recently AC shaftwood has been upgraded to all vacuum kiln dried maple, the most select (and expensive) grade available. This is the same type of shaftwood seen on recent Ginacue, Prewitt, South West and sometimes better made Chinese cues among others. It is generally straight-grained with no sugar or sap streaks. The wood looks "white" compared to regular kiln dried maple which tends to have a more of "brownish" color.

I'll have an early 2006 group of AC custom (not catalog) 6-point veneered cues with the "new" premium shafts in another 3-4 weeks (that's cuemaker time:rolleyes:). Best thing is I get to pick the shafts and the pickin's right now happen to be mighty good. There are other promising things happening at the AC shop for 2006. For example, many new (for AC) and precise inlay designs will be offered throughout 2006 and higher end inlayed cues will come standard with first quality leather wraps.

Thank you, Martin. Someone is going to be very happy with this cue.

I am getting a few scam e-mails. One person from Indonesia expressed strong interest in buying the cue outright (ending the auction early) but mysteriously lost interest when I would not accept his terms (which would be suicide for me).

Another guy is trying the same thing but wants it shipped to Japan. He actually Paypal'd me $$ from an account with a confirmed address in the USA. Paypal immediately set the status to "Held" and reversed the transaction while it is "under review". Then he sends me this e-mail:

"please SHIP THIS CUE ASAP TOMORRO MORNING ..repeat It MUST OUT TOMORROW
FOR KEEP MY JAPANESSE TRUST,I HAVE PROMISED WITH THEM WIL PROVIDE THE
TRACKING NUMBER TOMORROW
HERE THE SHIPPING ADDRESS WHERE THE CUE SHIPPED

name [Removed]
[Removed address]
city UEDASHI
province NAGANOKEN
postal codes 386-1102
JAPAN

I hope this will be the beginning for next mutually bussiness

please use MY EMAIL ADDRESS as registered on ebay at
[removed@removed.com] for further details, this paypal id used only
for payment purpose due high spam/scam activity on the net

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight...

It sure makes me appreciate all the good eBayers/buyers out there! Happy bidding to all.

I like this one that I got. I think alot of people get this one.

"we plan present this cue for our valued customer within JAPAN country as their new year gift for their relationship and further next mutually bussiness, caused we need exactly our customer as a cue's collector, ,FYI were an exporting company based within USA,please confirm your reserved price and shipping cost (postal service)
i am paypal member with good standing feedback, so my payment prefered only through PAYPAL
since the present time was too late we required no delay for shipment, if you offer best price i will send the money straight away"

:) :)

I phoned my bank to inquire what the safest way to receive payment is, if we assume the buyer is hostile.

1) Any sort of international money order/cashiers cheque/whatever... They didn't seem to be able to give me a firm length of time that would be safe to wait before the funds are definitely clear/safe to ship the item. 30 days? More?

2) Direct wire transfer ensures you get the money, but then you have to give out banking information... not recommended.

In the end this is the scenario they recommended as being safest...

-- Open a new bank account with them
-- Have the buyer wire transfer money into that bank account
-- Transfer funds from the new bank account to your regular bank account
-- Close the new bank account
-- Wait 2 weeks, ship item

Isn't that crazy?

I'm the current high bidder. For now. I suspect Mr. Skybass3168 will counter
real soon...

You can require them to Western Union the money. Also, you can block bids from suspicious bidders if you desire. Sometimes dealing with other countries can be rough....you just never know whather they are legit or not.

Western Union is a good suggestion. My fear would be that I receive the money, then ship the cue, and then get a call from Western Union saying "It was a stolen identification and credit card, so the funds have been reversed".

Does anyone know if there is any risk to the person of a chargeback from Western Union?
