FS: Butterfly cues

1) Please tell us about his wood drying process.
2) What is the final moisture % content of the woods before he starts turning the forearms and shafts?
3) How long does the curing proces take?
4) How many passes on the lathe does a shaft, forearm, and finished butt get? Over what length of time?
5) Are the forearms cored and if so with what?

They are beautiful cues, and should sell very well unless they are a candidate for warping badly in our drier climate here in the states.

I love the fact that Filipinos do a beautiful job in their work. If Al Bautista is the expert cuemaker that you say he is, he should be proud to answer the questions about wood prep that I pose so all will see the quality of his expertise. I am anxious to hear the answers. If they are well prepped woods, then I would be proud to own and even sell some of his cues locally.

well i am not the maker but will try to answer for him fr he has made a lot of cues for me lately before remodelling his shop currently to make it better, well all the woods are definitely coming from USA since we dont have a source here of exotic woods,i have ask him to make a control humidity room so that all woods would have the same moisture content
2) What is the final moisture % content of the woods before he starts turning the forearms and shafts?
this i have to ask him and get back to you but us we speak, he is now remodelling his shop to make it better, shaft and forearm turning into the lathe take time since once it was turn, heat is being generated and once turning is done, the tendency of the wood is to aborbed moisture in the surrounding because of being hot
3) How long does the curing proces take?

the curing process of the woods? as i have told you the woods did came from USA and we usually buy kiln dried woods already, but as it arrives here in Phil. we let it settle for a month before being turned and after turnning it little by little, we let it settle again until the desire diameter and let it settle once again
4) How many passes on the lathe does a shaft, forearm, and finished butt get? Over what length of time?
Again i am not the make and i have to ask this directly from him, but me ordering a cue from him take an amount of time too, the frst butterfly i have ordered took 8 months because of the handle of the wood warping after being turned. so anxious of me to wait but the finish cue was a totally success
5) Are the forearms cored and if so with what?
depends on the woods being used to be cored or not.

They are beautiful cues, and should sell very well unless they are a candidate for warping badly in our drier climate here in the states.
well i have sold some cue to the USA coming from Al, the maybe can attest to it, but proper care should also be a factor in it, i have also brought numerous cue coming from the USA, warping too do happens, adopting to a very humid climate of ours
