Hi All,
THIS CUE IS NO LONGER FOR SALE
I've been considering selling my Ivory jointed piloted Gus Szamboti cue. It has it's two original shafts with original Ivory ferrules and an original Gus leather wrap. It has been authenticated by Barry and comes fully papered (I will also provide Barry's notes to the buyer) It has ebony points and butt sleeve with double black and double maple veneers. It was made by Gus in the 70's and I've only seen one other like it (which was slightly altered) so I believe it's fairly rare. Barry believes that at some point it may have been refinished ( he also said it should not affect the cue's value. He equated it with replacing the tires on a 63' Corvette). Everything else is original except for the tips which were replaced by Barry with his Dad's old stock Champion tips. I can provide measurements,weights, lengths and balance points to any interested parties as well as a picture of Barry's LOA which is stamped. I am not interested in any type of trade and to be honest I am on the fence about selling it at all as I am fairly certain I'll never find another one. I can provide measurements,weights, lengths and balance points to any interested parties as well as a picture of Barry's LOA which is stamped. For what it's worth, I asked Barry what his estimated value was and he replied $9,000- $12,000. I am offering this cue for the next 7 days, the best offer over $9k gets the cue and the black suede Centennial 1 by 2 case that comes with it. After 7 days I will end it regardless. The only way i will end it early is if the cue reaches 10k (which to me is fair value) In which case I will immediately sell it.. The cue also comes with a black suede 1 by 2 Centennial which i will also post pictures of. I will only ship to the lower 48 states, no International sales because of the Ivory. I am open to escrow and would almost prefer it, perhaps Barry will hold it. Here are the specs.
Cue length= 59"
Butt= 29.5" and weighs 15.63 oz.
Butt diameter (measured from the bottom of the wrap is 1.208
Both shafts are 12.4 mm. Both are original Guy shafts with original Ivory ferrules
Shaft
#1= 12.4295 mm. Length is 29.5", weight is 4oz. 112 grams
Shaft #2= 12.45 mm. Length is 29.5", weight is 3.9oz. 110 grams
Balance point is 18.25" from the bottom of the cue.
The butt and both shats spin true in Barry's lathe, meaning that they are straight.
This cue is in very good condition, it was definitely a player and still is. The only flaw is there are 3 small finish chips on one side of the butt. The cue is solid and tight and comes with delrin joint protectors (1 butt, 1 shaft) made by Barry.
This is the best playing cue I've ever played with. Good luck someone is going to get a once in a lifetime cue, made by the greatest cue maker in history. I live in Chicago so if any of you live in the area I'd be happy to let you see it in person.
