I have a super John Davis blank conversion for sale. The original conversion was done by carom cue builder, Guido Orlandi. It did not have a wrap or lacewood buttsleeve, and I thought in looked incomplete, especially since you could see the finger joints. I took it to Cory Barnhart, and had him put a solid black linen wrap, lacewood butt sleeve and Ivory Hoppe ring on it as well as put an automotive grade finish on it. It is a knockout now. The veneers really jump out at you. It has that old school, Bushka/Hoppe look to it. The points look great with only about 1/4" total variance between them. Here are the specs:
Butt: 15.2 ounces
Shaft: 3.7 ounces, 12.8mm, LBM ferrule, Triangle tip, 1/2" black phenolic collar
Joint: 3/8x14 stainless steel pin and sleeve....same pin Bender uses
Forearm: Straight grain maple
Points: Four sharp lacewood points with 4 veneers, natural, green, orange, black
Wrap: Solid black linen
Butt sleeve: Solid lacewood
Butt cap: Black phenolic with Ivory Hoppe ring
