I'm curious but have never tried to hit with a Mezz before (I play with a Pred SP w/ wood joint). What is the balance point/length of the cue, and what does it hit like in comparison?

Hi thejeffcho,

I used to own a Mezz Axi-k w a WD700 shaft, wavy joint. The balance point of the cue I believe is pretty throughout (meaning by full balanced, but if you really have to point it out, it will be more rear weighted than the front).

It hits REAL solid, something similar to a 314-2. I can do a 3/4 table length draw shot with that cue. But regarding this cue that has a united joint, I've heard fair shares of good comments. I heard that it hits more 'lively' as compared to the 314-2. But it's a joint-steel pin in contrast to your joint-wood pin. The feel should be quite different. I believe the feedback is lesser, but the feel will be lesser than what you have.

Just my two pennies worth of thought. =D

i spent the first 3 years of playing mostly playing with a untited jointed mezz with a predator shaft. now i switch between my mezz (united joint) and PUJ shaft and my new BCM cue.

the united joint cue seem to hit a littler stiffer. for the most part the balance point is about 19" from the butt with the shaft attached. they're thinner in the wrap area, which i like, but you may not.

if you'd like i can measure out my mezz and shoot you the specs. i've got calipers and a scale. just say the word bro it's no problem.

the WD700 shafts play real similar to predator 314 shafts. i'd say they hit a little whippier though. and the 12.5mm isn't for me. they offered them in a 12.8 and i know that mezz will do a 13mm for you if you're willing to throw the dough down. all in all i'd say they're going to say this cue could be compared to a predator cue but a little livelier hit and more feed back than their ss jointed models. deff stiffer than the wood to wood jointed predators though

great cue here at a great price

Thank you all for responding to his question before I did appreciate that :-)

The Mezz I shoot with that has the WD700 (just the next model up from this cue I'm selling) has a very nice feel probably one of the best cues I ever shot with and I shot with all the major named cues (Predator, OB, Joss, Meucci, Schon etc) not to say any of those I just named are bad they are very nice cues (have not shot many custom cues so can't compare). Something about the Mezz hit just worked for me. One of my friends who has been a Schon guy for 15 years loves how the Mezz feels since it's very similar in feel to his cue. Pretty much the best way I can explain it. I find the WD700 one of the better LD shafts. I liked it just as much as a 314-2 and a tad better than the OB-1. Though roughly I'd have to say they all were good when I used them.

The Balance point pretty even I really couldn't tell on my cue just form holding it.

Hope that helps answer you question along with the previous user replies.

Hey thanks guys for the feedback. I have another couple of questions (which I posted in another thread also):

1) About the United joint: is it interchangeable with other 5/16 x 14 joints--does a United shaft fit another 5/16x14 butt (say a Joss or Schon) and vice veras does a 5/15x14 shaft fit a United butt?

2) 2) Is there a difference between a 5/16x14 shaft with black collar and with silver rings, or is the difference only cosmetic?

1) Any 5/16x14 shaft will fit a mezz cue but it will not have the super tight threaded feel that the united joint provides. (basically it will fit like any normal 5/16 x 14 shaft does on a normal cue. a United Joint has a very tight thread when screwed together) I use my 314-2 on my Mezz all the time with no issue. Now I don't know how the WD700 united joint would work on other cues I never tried that.

2) It's only cosmetic.

bump it up for serious offers. This is a $560 cue and the butt is brand new and the shaft is in very good condition just needs to be cleaned. Tip is at 95% I'd say so that too will last you a long while. If you love Mezz or ever wanted to try one out and see what all the rave is about here is your chance to grab one in virtually brand new for $200 below what they sell for new.
