Much better than the new? Same chalk, older label pre 9/11.

Hi R9-ball,

Thanks for your reply. Just search the forum or the web to find out the differences between the new and old chalk.

The new chalk tends to crumble far more than the older ones.

This means it sticks better to your tip, better grip on the cueball, less chalk on your hands and less chalk residu on the tables :)

Seems odd that Skip, the President of Tweeten has verified in an email to me what I said. Yes I have the email.
1. The flag was added to show U.S.A. support after 9/11 and that it will continued to be made in U.S.A.
2. The formula/mixture has not changed in decades.

I guess people can take it up with Tweeten if they think there is something different. Easy enough to contact them.

Always someone who knows it all......

There is a difference between the OLD Masters chalk and the new Masters chalk.

May be a simple matter of the chalk being older and drying out more??

Don't know what this is without being able to try it out.

I love how gullible people in the pool world are. I have cubes of both - there is NO difference.

Yeah,,, my post really makes me seem like a know it all especially since I did include that fact that it was verified and by whom. I suppose Skip is probably an unreliable source for you and that he would not know either. I could have included that I do work for a billiards business that has bought thousands of dollars of the chalk over the years and that we have also spoken to Tweeten over the phone about this since many people have called about the so called chalk differences. I guess if Tweeten posted the same info,, you would call them "a know it all" also.

I will agree that being older and possibly dried out could be a factor but it is not the same as people claiming the manufacturing mixture is different.
Doesn't matter to me since it works for me with or without a flag

R9ball and bigfish the rules are buy or pass but you are not to post in this mans for sale thread and try to educate us on something you know very little about! Good luck on your sale of this old chalk and I will report these 2 ass clowns for their input on your sale thread!
Good luck, Ron

If it dosen't matter to you Why would you post this crap in a persons sale thread? Why not BUY or Pass like the rules state?

I believe in the old pre-flag stuff...mine is from the early 70's...

I've got 4 grosses of the green and it pastes onto my tip as good as the Predator, and Blue Diamond...though it is a little dryer...but the grit is really fine...finer than what I believe the newer stuff is...

I've got a 5th gross, but it's lost in the house somewhere...maybe my kid ate it, as he's kinda weird nowadays...

My personal thought, is that the old stuff did have a harmful chemical inside it, and the ingredients were changed somewhere in the 60's to 70's or even in the 80's...or so...), (there is a post where it shows a high lead ppm inside the green) but you'll have to search it out...and I also think due to legalities, that Tweeten will not directly admit to it...as the old stuff is still out there in the market, and there is a liability behind the probability/and/or the possibility of a child getting hold of one of the older pieces...

I emailed Skip with the same questions...he never replied.

...and, I hear that they still produce the "No flag" stuff for other countries to use...as they wouldn't like to have our flag on all of the chalk that is sold to countries outside of the USA...so, there is the possibility of New chalk, with no label coming from outside countries into the USA...with the newer ingredients, which would then, support that there is no change in the newer stuff...

Anyhow, that's my 2 cents...but it's only worth about a penny.

Thanks for your input Jwe, to make things clear, these are not new chalks but bought about 20 years ago. They have been laying in our storage since then. Well preserved.
