well before flaming me, think about it.....this post is pretty much insinuating that people with cog cues will want a laminated shaft. correct me if i am wrong but cue makers make their mark by the hit of their cue and style. this is degrading both showing that he can pretty much replicate Mr. Gold's inlay expertise and on top of that he is thinking that people are going to want a predator after playing with a cog. if he didnt think this, then why would he advertise it?
advertising this is inappropriate IMO without the cue makers permission. doing ring work for other cues is perfectly fine IMO. i am just disagree with using someone's name to profit especially in the custom cue market where reputation is everything.
and no i will not delete my post. sorry if i offended anyone.
In my opinion, he did not say nor imply
anywhere that you'll want a Predator shaft on your Cog ever. Nor did he say his work is as good as Joe Gold's but hey, Joe Gold is a very good craftsman and KJ is another expert of his craft, hands down.
I can't see where or why is it wrong to say the shaft matches a Cognoscenti? Or a Szamboti? Or anything else?
Should anyone ever ask Brunswick's permission to use a Titlist blank? Does making a cue out of a Titlist cue imply that Titlists are crap? NO way.
Or do you need Herman RamboW's permission to use that short ring above the butt cap - also referred to as Hoppe ring? No. And adding a Rambow / Hoppe ring won't say that that current cue looks better than the old Rambow's. It is an option and yet it is always and everywhere 'advertised' by referring to the late master at Brunswick - and not abusing / desecrating Herman Rambow's legacy.
But if KJ is using Joe Gold's name to advertise his shafts that I am sure everyone else is also advertising their cue's with using Herman Rambow's name? Or is it just fine because Herman Rambow passed in 1967?
What KJ does is something he is very well known for around the world. And has he earned his reputation by any time saying that his mated and matched shafts are better or by copying anyone's work? NO. He earned his reputation by building and matching shafts in a perfect way, does his work in time and prices his work more than reasonably.
No offence here either, much more defence though - not that KJ needs it but because I feel the must of saying this because he or his work doesn't deserve what's been said by you. This is my opinion.
