One of the premier makers of tribute cues is Jerry Rauenzahn. He has been building them since the mid 1970's, and he knew most of the master cuemakers of the era. Some of his Balabushka and Szamboti tribuite cues are real works of art.
This cue is a tribute to Gus Szamboti. In order to build it, Jerry used a Gus Szamboti original, and made all the measurements and tapers the exact specifications that Gus used. The cue is a 4 point ebony into birdseye with hardwood veneers, a white with green speck linen wrap, and a solid ebony butt sleeve. It has traditional Szamboti stitch ringwork at A/B/E.
This cue is in excellent, practically new condition. One shaft has seen very light play, and the second appears unused at all.
Specifications:
- Butt: 15.3 ounces
- Shaft 1: 4.1 ounces, 12.85mm, Ivory ferrule, Kamui tip
- Shaft 2: 4.2 ounces, 12.75mm, Ivory ferrule, Kamui tip
- 5/16x14 piloted stainless steel joint
- Black phenolic joint collars with Szamboti stitch rings
- Super nice birdseye forearm
- Four ebony points with four hardwood veneers. I am not certain of any of the wood in the veneers, except the tulipwood used in the third veneer (inside/out). Veneer colors are tan, natural, tulipwood, brown.
- White with green specks irish linen wrap
- Solid ebony butt sleeve with Szamboti stitch ring above the butt cap
- White delrin butt cap with "-R-" logo
- Signed "Jerry Rauenzahn 08" between the points
Sale pending....
