These Tiger shafts use the highest quality maple in a laminated shaft. I'm playing with the Pro X and my friends are all switching over to it too.

Thanks for saying so Chris. I had Pro X and Ultra X LD shafts made for my new Searing too. What I like the most about them is that the shafts have wonderful feel to them.

so what all has changed in the front end between the ultra-x and the ultra-x ld?

i remember reading they core with balsa wood for some length in the front end now.
also from the pictures it looks like they reduced the length of the ferrule from 5/8" to somewhere around 1/4". are they still having the tenon on the ferrule inserted into the shaft or is the ferrule slipped/screwed onto a tennon on the shaft now?
 
I think the ferrule is unchanged as far as construction goes. These Tiger shafts are LD but don't feel phoney.
