full and half splice

I am looking into getting a custom cue made this yr. I don't know much about cues. But what is the difference betweetn a full splice and a half splice? I plan on getting an 8point cue if it makes a difference. Thanks in advance for any answers.

The cues that are regarded as the best playing cues ever made are almost universally half-spliced, Szamboti, Balabushka, Searing, Southwest, etc. House cues are full spliced.

8 Point cues are half spliced.

I have in my possession a true 8 point full spliced cue. All 8 points come off the handle. Can you guess who made it?

I won't just guess but am probably willing to bet. An Adam, "Helmstter" brand built an 8 point full splice cue at one time. Adam cue company, who was usually deemed a 2nd class, Asian imported cue was actually a company who built a very good product. A number of cue manufacturers used to buy Adam blanks which they converted as their own.

Thanks for the insight Dick....didn't think about that when I came across the cue. The final product has a FL makers telltale signs of construction. I've been trying to find out as much as I can about the blank. I may have to dig it out and start asking about it again.

I have two full splice 8 point blanks hanging in my shop.
