Fullsplice Cue Question

Hi guys, I'm gonna order a fullsplice cue, I really want an all ebony on ebony but I know it's going to be heavy, my question is about how heavy do you think just the butt would be without coring it using a lite pin such as titanium or aluminum, with the finish on it, also using a standard thickness butt as I dont like thinner butts? Also if I had just the back end cored about how much weight would be taken out? My current butt weighs 17 ounces, is that acheivable?
I really like the dense hard woods, if I was to go with an ebony nose, would I save any weight using cocobolo, tulipwood, or purple heart bottom and what combination do you guys think would hit the best?

I have one here that came out really nice. My comp crashed and I don't have PS loaded yet for pics.

It is 16.1 butt only. .840 at joint and 1.25. I would have to make a shaft for it(not a big deal). I don't know if that butt is too thin for you. I'll post some pics when PS finishes dld'n.

Sure, I will throw out some numbers. Since you first asked about ebony on ebony, I will treat that as a one piece butt.

1" black linen phenolic joint collar
G10 3/8" joint pin
.840/1.28 taper, 29" length
1/2" black linen phenolic butt cap
gaboon ebony = 70 pounds/square foot (densities vary, but 75 is considered about average)
bumper configuration = threaded stem bumper screwed directly into wood
no other hardware...
weight = 17.3 ounces for the butt

If 12 inches of the rear is cored with 45 pounds/cubic foot maple, 13/16" diameter, you drop 1.4 ounces to 15.9 butt alone.

Of the 3 other woods you mentiond for the handle, purpleheart would reduce the most weight, followed by tulipwood, followed by coco, assuming respective average values.

Wood densities vary quite a bit for each species, so this is speculation without having specific wood pieces to weight to calculate the density for.
