My wife and I used to have a rottie that was great, medium size, about 90lb.

Neighbor had a shepherd from Europe breeder, I think he paid like 3-4K for it in the late 1990s.

The pups would play together and the shepherd would put its mouth around the rottie's head. The whole thing.

I am sure the rottie would win in a bite strength competition, blah blah blah...the shepherd woulda won every other fight.

My roommate in college had a few rotties and bred them to help pay the bills. We would take four or five puppies to Landis Green and let them run around. They were like little snatch magnets. Good times.

I like big dogs, we got little ones now.

And this is what they are doing. It is what they do best.

The white one is cool, but the b/w one...just looks at you with that 'I'm not that kind of dog' whenever you try to get him to do anything. Sweet as can be, but dammit! Bring me that ball?!

And here is the rottie, Sophie. Soon after the pic, we had to put her down.

She hadn't eaten in days and would rarely stand.

Every time I'd walk into the room or say her name she'd wag that tail-nub.

Just looking into her eyes now, I see that devotion and desire to be perfect.

My eyes are tearing up now, literally.
