today the king of sweden celebrates his 80th birthday. he's the longest serving current head of state of a sovereign nation, and the longest serving monarch in swedish history (not counting viking era kings whose dates are kind of obscure). his position is mostly ceremonial, but he's well liked, especially for wearing funny hats. he loves hunting and driving his john deere tractor
