I once went to play at a local hall with a lady friend of mine and when we were wrapping it up to go home this one came out by accident but we almost died laughing so hard.

Her: Alright I've had enough of you beating me, time to go?
Me: OK, you grab the balls, and I'll get my stick.

She started laughing and then I was like "What's so funny?" and then it clicked. I only meant for her to round up the balls into the tray so I could take em back up and that I would break down my cue and put it in the case. Pretty funny?

English is what you put on the cue ball, Irish is the moves you make after hitting the cue ball to make the object ball go into the pocket. When I get antsey I tell my opponent that a good shot like that takes just the right amount of Irish.

My teammates now call it putting "French" on a ball. Something to do with them having an Englishman on the team! All credit to them, they're learning the correct words to use after messing up, but I can't repeat them on here!!
