Good news for all Western Canadians!!

The Fury Amateur 9-Ball Tour is coming to Western Canada!!

Currently I am looking for host rooms, and some feedback from players in different areas that are interested in playing. I am looking to have around 4 events in Alberta, and 8 events in British Columbia.

Alberta:
2 Events in Calgary
1 or 2 Events in Edmonton
Possibly 1 Event in Red Deer

British Columbia:
2 Events in the Greater Vancouver Area
1 or 2 Events on Vancouver Island
1 Event in Kamloops
1 Event in Northern BC, possibly Prince George
1 Event in Kelowna

There will be a minimum of $500 added at each event. Events will either be a 1 day event held on a Saturday or Sunday, or a 2 day event held on Saturday and Sunday. Race to 7 on the A-side Race to 5 on the B-side. 2 Day events may be 9 on the A and 7 on the B. Each event is limited to 64 players. The tour will have a points based ranking system, with a seeded year end Season Finale with more $$$ added.
Entry Fee is going to be $40 at each Event.
You have to pay $40 to get your tour card, if you are only playing in 1 event you will only have to pay a $20 fee.

Currently I am looking to create a player contact list in each region. Then I will be contacting host rooms. I am looking to hold the first event around the first weekend of October.

Host rooms and players will be featured in Pool's biggest Magazines!!

I hope to be hearing from you soon!

I am also looking for 1 Correspondent in each area. Your job would be to talk to local players, and help find a good host room. Also on tournament days in your area I will need a small amount of help running the tournament. I am not too familiar with the Alberta area, so i will likely need 1 person from Edmonton and 1 person from Calgary. You will be paid a small fee for your services. Please contact me if you are interested.

I would be highly interested in playing in the events but might I suggest a $100 entry fee for the events so that the prize money is higher and therefore more worthwhile to travel the long distance to play events not in your home town? $40 is half of what I paid to play in a local A tournament weekly, it seems too low for a tour event and since the travel and hotel would cost hundreds I would rather pay abit more for spice up the event as well.

As for the locations, 1 on the Island is perfect, any more and it is tough to make the trip plus it is a relatively small population out there. Drop Prince George, a event up there would probably just grab a small field, that is a long way from everywhere. Saskatoon and Regina deserve an event, there are alot of players in Saskatchewan and they are most definately part of the west, one event in Winnepeg would also be cool as it may draw some of those players out to the more Western events as a result.

If you have 10 events make it

Vancouver
Victoria
Kelowna
Kamloops
Calgary
Edmonton
Red Deer
Saskatoon
Regina
Winnepeg

That there is the 10 most important locations to make tour stops to have the perfect western tour, 1 event at each.

But for me to travel that far i would have to fly, or drive for 2 days. Living in Alberta its easy to get to Saskatoon and Regina. I would prefer keeping it in BC and Alberta. I think Calgary and Vancouver can each handle 2 stops. What are the best 2 places in Calgary to hold a tournament?
What is the best place in Edmonton to hold a tournament?

I am looking to start booking Pool rooms this week.

I understand the travel issues, it is just that a true western tour would need to include at least Saskatchewan, even if just one stop to solidify its "western" moniker.

Great White billiards would have been the place, they shut down though last I was in Calgary.

Stix Billiards on Richmond is a super nice place run by a guy named Jerry, he may be into it, he has run events before including the 10k added dufferin tour finals.

Place called Oc's in Calgary may be into it as well, after the Great White shut down they started a tournament that got alot of the top Calgary players.

I am not 100% sure on what is happening there atm though, I am in Australia for a small while longer. Will be back in Calgary in about a month at the most

I agree. There are quite a few players (up to a dozen) from Sask who would travel to Ab and Mb for tournaments of this calibre. For a tournament within Sask that number could double or triple. For those thinking 'that's not a lot', please remember that Saskatchewan has a little under 1M people in total.

;) come on Dave..

There's only 3 pool tables in Sask. Right? lol.. I agree that Sask should have at least 1 stop. They are Western Canada.

Yep. There's one in my basement, Fred has one, and then there is that table in the pool hall. Seriously, there could easily be a rotation between Regina, Saskatoon, and PA. One stop a year in Sask would be appropriate imo.

I would like to have one in Sask, but like i said, the travelling expenses would be too high, as well as the time. It would be 4 days traveling time there and back for me, for 1 $500 added tournament. Thats 3 days of missed work at $300, about $150 in gas in my car, plus a hotel for 4 days, @ $120 if i stay in the seediest hotels. It's just not possible for me. I could talk to Kay at Kings Bay, and maybe, if its allowed, and someone is willing, someone else could run that stop. Dave are you familiar with running tournaments? Something like that might work for me, but its too much traveling if i have to be there.

I'll be giving the rooms you guys mentioned a call in the coming weeks.

Funny that no Vancouver players have responded.

I didn't realize that the events must be set within your personal limitations. Ah well. Good luck with your venture, you should see some Sask players going to AB tourneys if you manage to pull this off.
