If this has been discussed before, my apologies. I have had a Fury jump/break for about a year and the finish on the shaft looks equivalent to sandpaper on a cuetec. Taking into consideration fading occurs on cue shafts I am ok with that. But this cue hasn't 10 hours of playing time on it at best. What's the deal? Is this normal?
 
There are a few questions to be asked first. Do you keep the cue in a case? Has it been exposed to extreme temperatures or humidity? Is the finish rough or is it just discolored?
Fury is very good about standing behind it's products if there is a manufacturing defect. Check with the business where you purchased it. They should be able to either get the problem fixed or get a replacement if it is a defective cue.

Yeah a leather case equivalent to an Instroke along with a Schuler cue. I never leave any of this in extreme weather. It is always in my home except when I am out playing. It is discolored and the finish is smooth where it is faded but not as smooth as the rest of the cue. I clean my shafts and apply Q-wax to them to seal them periodically. A friend bought sometime after I did and his still looks great. Can't figure it out.
 
I had one of these for awhile too, and I also noticed something funny about their shafts. One time I tried to take a q-wiz to it and it came out all weird and gritty feeling, I was like wtf?! I later found out that some shafts have some kind kind of coating on them or something and are not meant to be sanded or burnished. I'm not sure if this is true of the Fury J/B's or not, but I sure know it was different though from my other 'normal' wood shafts.
 
I have a Fury j/b and the shaft has some weird grey blotches on it. Some near the top, some in middle and some on bottom. I cleaned them off with Mr. Clean Magic and they came back again in a week. They look weird and I don't know how they got there. I have had cue about a year....???????
 
That's messed up man. I'd have whoever I bought it from replace it right away, or just return it or sell it. Then I'd get an x-breaker, stinger, or sledgehammer (one of the ones made by Mike G).

I've got a sledgehammer made by Mike G right now for sale...cheap..check the wanted for sale section.
 
Yeah, that's correct. The II's had some problems and were made somewhere else. The original sledgehammers such as the one I'm selling for $150 is made right here in the USA.
 
Sounds as though you guys have the same trouble as me. Is this a defect or just the way it is? I started to buy a Sledgehammer when I bought the Fury but had heard some great things about them. The first thing I noticed about the 1 piece phenolic tip is how difficult it is to jump a ball and then draw the cue ball back. I had much better success with a cheap j/b with a hard Lepro tip. I busted out the joint breaking with it and didn't want to spend more getting it repaired then I had in it. Only thing was I tended to miscue sometimes. I have seen how well they scatter balls but how well does a Sledgehammer perform when jumping?
