Fusion Tables?

Turned on ESPN this afternoon, and to my great surprise found some women's pool (Ga Young defeated Monica).

Anyway, they were playing on a Fusion Table. Never heard of them. Nice to have a new sponsor for TV pool, but I'm not sure I want one of these myself.

Yeah, the playing table ends up being 3.15' by 6.3'. I was wondering if they went for an oversized dining table or an undersized pool table. Unfortunately, they went for the latter.

That and is the dining table portion waterproofed between the sections? I don't want to spill things on my pool table, which seems inevitable at some point.

It's a cute idea but I can't see it being practical for serious players. Anybody who cares enough to buy a pool table for their house is going to want better than that.

Unfortunately, they are not a new sponsor. Fusion tables are made by Aramith/Saluc, who has been a sponsor with the WPBA and Billiards International for quite some time.
 
The convertible table is not my cup of tea but I suppose there is a market for people that need to make compromises in order to have a pool table in their home. I won't even let my wife fold laundry on my table when the cover is on so I'm not in this market, but I get it. It's not a bad idea for someone who wants a pool table but just doesn't have the space to devote to it otherwise.
 
I think the one's they used on the tv tourneys are handsome tables. When I go to their website, they don't seem to have a full-size 9' version. It certainly appeared to be regulation size on TV. Made specifically for the tourney, perhaps?

You're right. I thought the TV table looked pretty spiffy. Pockets appeared tight and the rails true. But the stuff on the web left me cold.

As yourself -- what pros would agree to play for money on a junk table?
 
Here's a proportionate diagram of what a Fusion table would look like with their recommended room dimensions. Only big enough for a 45" cue, but no room to stroke off the rail.
