I Thought I'd Share This With You

That sounds like the UPA is no longer in existence. Is that true? Did it fold after Charlie left?

If the UPA died, how come no one knows about it being dead. Did it just fade away? Must not be much interest in it. Do they still post UPA standings in BD?

When I was much younger, I had the opportunity to sit on a park bench alongside Albert Einstein. We discussed the ills of the world and possible solutions. I was surprised at how smart he was and he in turn listened intently to my suggestions, while nodding wisely. It wasn't long before a policeman came along and rousted us. It turned out that Einstein was merely a homeless unkempt wino that lived in the bushes behind the bench. We hadn't solved anything at all with all our talking. From that day onward, everything simply continued on as it had been all along.....

Well, to a degree. I didn't care much for that one red tennis shoe & one white tennis shoe look...... though.

Good Observations

One of the biggest reasons (mens) Tours have failed is that most of the tours have been run by players. After being involved with the game for a few decades in several different areas and a business owner I can see things that need improvement.

Here are a few differences in why the WPBA is successful and the mens tours are not.

A) Men think that sponsors should be chasing them (pride). The Women go get the sponsors.

B) Men over-rate their $ value to make appearances and the Women are proud to do them (the majority anyways).

C) Very rarely do you see men celebrating a 2nd or 3rd place finish like the ladies do (men are not to happy unless they win).

The bottom line is that the women still show some love for the "game" of pocket billiards. The men all believe they should be #1 (pride again) and seem like they would rather be golfing.

Maybe the men could learn a lot if they just stopped and asked for directions once in a while. The men show (I'm sure the profile fits me also) a need for a major attitude adjustment and realize they are not the hand that holds up the Earth.

Get a business man that is not involved to take care of the business and let the players play the tour.

Just a couple thoughts (I could prob go on & on)....

They also have a very important feeder system to create interest from the bottom to the top. There is not allot $$$ at the top, but at least the organization has structure and a bunch of hard working people making a difference and keeping it together. Their tour is now going through an evolution process as its been around since the early 90's after they stopped playing along side the men. With the new talent and youth coming up this generation of talent could be the breakthrough the sport needs. Gals, great job keeping it together and moving the WPBA forward.
