If you've ever been in this situation, here's the ruling.

27. SPLIT HITS​

If the cue ball strikes a legal object ball and a non-legal object ball at approximately the same instant, and it cannot be determined which ball was hit first, it will be assumed that the legal target was struck first

Tie goes to the 2nd baseman.

The rule could not be written better, I say you. It is a great example of an effective ruling/ line on the matter of whether a hit is good or not.

You'll find it does not state by whom the determination will be made. That's power language there and presuming there is a disagreement as to good/bad hit...of you argue, you meet the exact conditions which requlired the rule in the first place.

Like talking to your mom. Open your mouth and you are beat. Dammit!
