With proper care a G-10 pin will last as long as any other material used for a cue pin. It can be a bit abrasive but there are a couple ways to combat this. Cog cues have been using them for a long time and have had a minimal downside to them as far as I know and what I've been told. I've also been told the pins in Joe's cues have a design to fracture and break at the base of the pin right before it goes into the butt. This is used for those who may have an accidental side pressure on the cue at the joint so the pin will break instead of the shaft or forearm.

If you guys are worried about the roughness of the G10 pins rub a little bees wax on the pin and screw the shaft on ...The wax will lubricate the pin and seal the threads...
