hello, how did these shafts play and feel compared to 314 and mezz shafts?
how is the general quality of the new mcdermott cue line?
thanks

Don;t know about mezz shafts....

I have an I-2 shaft and it plays better than the 314 IMO....

As far as the quality of the new line of mcdermotts, I'm probably not he best person to ask. I have the top of the line mcdermott so the quality assurance is probably a little better....

I have one of the new lower level McDermotts (G203) and the quality seems quite good to me.

Can't speak to the differences in the G and I shafts versus the others you mention, as I have no experience with them. Everyone who has used mine (with the G shaft) has remarked how much they liked it. For what that is worth.

I played with an I-2 for about a year, then moved to a 314-2 when I bought my Predator.

I like the "feel" of the I-2 better. IMO it's a more solid satisfying hit. The 314-2 has a hollow type hit.

The advantage of the Predator shaft compared to the I-2 is that you don't have to adjust your aim as much when applying english - I guess it's lower deflection. In my mind at least, that helps my game.

I think the quality of the McDermotts is excellent. My previous cue was an Atlantis (http://www.keithsbilliards.com/prod...t-Dec-2008-Pool-Cue-of-The-Month-189p2859.htm) and there were no issues. My wife owns an Envy (http://www.cornerpocketpool.com/products/Envy_McDermott_Pool_Cues-1340-61.html) and the quality of that cue seems very good.

tried alot of ld shafts

I like the feel of the G-core , it plays like the ob classic with just a tad bit more deflection, meaning it got good feel ,but doesnt hit hard like i-2 shaft.

As for the I-2 it plays great ,as mentioned prior to my post they play very stiff with more feel than a 314-2, you do however compensate accuracy easier with the i-2 than the 314-2 when using english, but the feel makes up for it..

My picks go,,I-2 over g-core,lucasi hybrid,314-1 and 314-2, 0b-1,

As for the best shaft imo its #1.z-2, #2.ob-classic(or g-core), and
#3. i-2,
#4 314-2. #5 ob-2..

For the record i mainly use mcdermott butts at custom weight and the quality is one of the best for affordability ,durability, as far as production goes,, there the leaders........hope this helps ...

I have a G-Core and love it! The line of current McD cues that come with either the G-Core or I-shafts standard are very good quality. The line that has the standard shafts, but are still USA made ones are good quality.

All the I's are slightly different, in more ways than just the tip.

I bought a used I-2 here on the Forum at a great price. I really liked the way it played and was very happy with it. At that time I was a little hesitant about the I-3 because of the 11.75mm tip diameter. About 6 months later, a I-3 was offered here on the Forum. I bought that too. I've been playing with it now for about 2 years and think it really helped my game. The life time warranty, that McDermott offers with the I-series shafts, is unbeatable. At no cost, they will clean the shaft, reseal, and put a new Moori tip on it. The only cost is around $21 for shipping and handling. I've sent both shafts in at the same time once and both were done at no charge - only the $21 for S&H (for both cues - that breaks down to $10.50 each). Wow. And there is also a warranty on warpage if that occurs. I've read some threads on splinters. cracks, warpage on other LD shafts but never about the McDermott I-series shafts. They wouldn't offer the warranty they do if they weren't sure that their shafts are high quality. So I've have to rate the McDermott I-shafts at a higher quality to the ones you've mentioned. I've also played with the OB-2 for about 3 weeks but couldn't get used to the ferrule. Found it very distracting. I saw little difference between the I-3 and the OB-2 in playability or deflection. I have no quantatative data on that but just personal impressions. Hope this helps you.
