G3 ball returns "ring"

A very light touch on the ball return rods sets them ringing. They ring when balls fall in. They ring lightly with each step as I walk around the table. I had always liked the unique "pock" sound GC pockets make when struck. The ringing destroys that ambiance.

What can I do to deaden the ringing? It's a GC3.

Thanks.
Mike.

Check underneath the table for loose screws that attach the return tracks. Tap each section to locate the ringing. Mitch

Place a Rubber "Cushioning" Washer Between the Table and the Return Mount.

Scroll Down to Cushioning Washers

Change to Drop Pockets.

Sticky Coating on Return Rails?
Old Vinyl Coating Sometimes Becomes Sticky.
Clean with Vinyl Cleaner, Alcohol or Paint Thinner?
Treat Clean Rails with a Vinyl Protector Like Armor-All After Cleaning.

Answer the call....LOL I've never heard of a ball return ringing:confused:

I appreciate the info. Thanks.

It's a new installation, just over a week old now. I pounded the pocket liners into place last night with 6 oz. mallets -- center ball full stop shots at 3 to 4 table length speed. The sound changed a little, but still sounds cheesy compared to the meaty smack I recall from pool halls in my youth.

Anyway, the wire tracks bong when the ball falls off the scoop below the liner. And then ring lightly, like a taut wire or bar. Are felt or rubber washers the right answer then?

What do you mean pounded the pockets liners in place? They sbould sound like they're rolling on wire runners.....they are wire runners. Stop shots at 3 to 4 times table length speed.....you lost me on most all of this, i have no clue what you mean.

I'm guessing the pocket liners weren't fully seated yet. They now look and feel tight.

Pool balls weigh 6 oz. each. I shot as hard as I could readily control. The same stroke would send the cue ball 3 to 4 trips up and back between the end rails. Center ball hits don't lose any of that energy in soon. Almost all the energy is transferred to the object ball on a stop shot.

In other words, I shot as hard as I could at each pocket repeatedly to pound on the pocket liners. The rest of it, I was just pleased that I could still bomb them in like that from basically the full table length. I just had to tell someone but couldn't fit it into normal conversation.

A couple of the pocket liners seem to still be a little loose. There's a little of slap after the impact. The runners seem to have lost most of the objectionable sound. Now I'm wondering if I just imagined the other stuff earlier.

The pockets only mount one way, they're screwed into the pocket castings, there's no seating that takes place. And you're testing the pockets by firing balls in the pockets at warp speed.....ok.

Thanks. I should have looked instead of wondering aloud in public.
