Gabe Owen's cue?

I thought Gabe used a cue made by his father, Bob Owen, of Shurtz Custom Cues. But I recently received an email from Mueller's with an advertisement for:
----------------------
Gabe Owen Cues by Downey: Available exclusively at Mueller's, the Gabe Owen Cues were designed and made for Professional Pool Player Gabe Owen by Cuemaker Troy Downey. The cues are made with some of Gabe's favorite cue materials - ebony, ivory, and snakewood.

Prices range from $795.00 to $2,295.00 each
----------------------
I just found that curious and worth a mention...

Yes...

Kathy, his Mom, first told me about that, and that Troy is a
sponsor of Gabe now, but rest assured, the cue made by Bob,
his Dad, will still be in his case. If you see him in an ad for cases,
then you know he had to get a bigger one ... lol

SPetty,

I think Gabe should give me that cue since he does not need it now.

BTW I have a close-up of Gabe at DCC with that cue. I will send you a copy if we ever get our new (used) home computer working right.

I can't say I blame him. Mueller's is a powerhouse outfit and any player would like to be sponsored by them.
There's really no way he should pass on the offer, IMO.

I remember ...

one of the last few times that Gabe came back through
Wichita (his true home BTW), and to see his Dad, we all
got to talking about cues and cuemakers, and Gabe mentioned
that there was a cuemaker that he really liked his cues too,
and it was Troy Downing, so evidently they established a friendship
and a business venture together.

I can not tell you how many people here that get really upset
when they say Gabe is from Tulsa when he is really from Wichita,
and he grew up here.
