Gadgets

Do I carry too many gadgets. Coming back into the game from an extensive layoff, I have found myself carrying a whole lot of extra things besides my cues. Inside of my 3x6 Instrock, I have my playing and break cue, and a stretch bridge, in the pockets I have my jump cue, an extension, towel, and a variety of tip repair items. Then I carry a small case with Turtle rack, and a measle cue ball. anybody else carry around all this crap. Or should I add more crap to the list and upgrade to a full backpack. I guess I could add a golf glove (have lots of those laying around).

I also carry a small bottle with:

-Advil
-Tylenol
-TUMS
-Allergy Medication

and one of those rubber weighted bits that sit on a bar ledge to hold the cues.

What about your cue holder, pocket chalker, chalk, glove, chewing gum, pencil, book light, phone charger, iPod, ear buds, candy bars, bag of quarters, and a firearm?

You only missed a few items.

Don't forget a rolled up magic rack and powder (which I don't use, hate the stuff).

The next step is to bring around a whole personal set of 15 balls!

Don't forget light bulbs just in case the place does not use the good stuff.

I'm not joking.

Guy I know broke a light holder trying to screw in his own bulbs in a pool hall.

And several people I know carry ball sets since many rooms only have cheap and/or dinged up ones. I bring my Aramith Pro set so a room I play in, I guess it's my 3rd most visited room. The tables are OK but adding a nice almost new set of quality balls makes them play better.

Well, i didn't see anything really all that outlandish. I knew of 2 players that carried their firearms with them, one had it in a messenger bag that he would slide under the edge of the table and the other had it strapped to leg just above the ankle. But this is Arizona where it always been acceptable to open carry, and its easy to get a conceal permit. Don't think I have ever seen anyone carry their own light bulbs, but it probably wouldn't be a bad idea since the room I have been going to seems to always have burnt out lights. (they change them out when asked). I think I'll throw my light meter in my case this weekend just to get some data off the tables for another thread. As well as a tape measure to check various pockets, room has 2 Diamond tables and I am curious as to how the pockets measure compared to the Gold Crown III's that they have. Then have also reduced to pocket size on about half of their GC's, My own table is shimmed, looks like then tried moving the rails.

I've seen it happen....

I think pool players will need caddies soon at this rate. I'm personally still a 1x2 fan at heart. A glove and tip tool are handy as well. I rarely use the items I carry in my 2x4 anyways, so often times I just leave it at home.

a chalk, a Willard shaper, a file, a tip pik, a mushroom remover, a couple of gloves, ..
a couple of tips, a knife, a super glue, a top sander, a burnisher, a couple of sandpapers,...
That should be all I need.

The pouch on a case, does not hold all the stuff I want and need with me. I just put it all in a small camera bag with a shoulder strap.

I use to carry a lot of gadgets. Not any more. I no longer dress my tip, reshape it or try to repair it. I have a spare shaft for that reason. All I ever do is chalk the tip and have it replaced when worn out. The abrasion of the chalk is enough to scuff it or take off the glaze. Watch the pros and see if they fool around with the tips during a match. I seen on pro playing a money game using a just break cue and no chalk. He didn't have any problems.

All I carry is eye drops, chalk, and a microfiber cloth to wipe off the shaft.

🎱

I'm guilty of carrying too much stuff...too much to list here. Among the items, even a small flashlight. But, it did get used by the counterman for looking into circuit breaker boxes when the power clicked off in the hall. Great little light of genius design. LED unit that clips to a 9 volt battery which becomes the handle.

Forgot about that I use to carry and use when I lived in the Bay Area, its a portable alarm-able motion detector. it has a key pad that allows you to arm it, if it gets moved, it sets if a screaming loud noise. I still have it, but can not remember what the code was to arm it.

I admit.. I may have a problem!

Q-Claw (3 Cue)
Black Maxx (2 Cue - "Porper" style holder)

Tip Tools:
Last4Ever (Dime) - this is what I use on mine
Williard (Nickel) - for other peoples cues that want a nickel (Just haven't ordered the nickel from Joel yet)
Tip Pik

Small glass dent remover
Chempak Q Cloth

Misc:
Chalk
Coin holder
Cue-Z "Finger Slidez" (Instead of glove)
Moose head style bridge
Coins
Gum

*Another addition couple of items that I may carry depending on my destination, is the
"BallSak" - Cue ball holder and an Aramith Cue Ball inside which I clip to my case same with the Black Maxx.
