Gambled for food?

Years ago, a couple of friends of mine who were both well off started woofing at each other about a what to bet on their match. Thousands had been exchanged in the past. All the railbirds were waiting to hear what the bet was going to be.

They finally decide to play for dinner with the winner getting to pick the restaurant. The railbirds were really dissapointed.

After they played, the guy that won simply said, "I want a Big Mac from McDonald's......................in San Francisco!"

Considering the game happened in Houston, I laughed my %%% off!

A phone call later, off they went to the airport! Ends up they went to some high powered seafood place in Frisco with the winner buying the meal.

This could be a realy interesting thread. I have gambled for food years ago, but not in the sense that you are referring.

While in tech school years ago, I was barely able to cover dorm rent and book expenses. Every Friday morning when I got off work at the gas station, I would head to the local pool hall and play $1 , $2, $5, racks or whatever action I could get. What money I won was my grocery and gas money for the week.

Proudly, I can say I never had to walk except to and from classes<by choice>. I can also say I wish I had eaten just a bit healthier back then, because if you could actually see me, you would notice I didn't miss too many meals. However, there were a few nights where my dinner was just a can of green beans or corn or something. Geuss I didn't do to well the week prior to those meals.:o

I once gambled for Pizza at Smokin Cue in Charlotte. I was giving up the three out and the breaks. I lost four pizzas and then played the last double or nothing but took away a ball so I wasn't giving up a corner ball. I won that set hill hill.

I have gambled for dinner, breakfast, hookers (just kidding), chores, situps/pushups, clothes, cars, cues, stupid human tricks, and I am sure other silly things that don't pop into my head right now.

What I thought of when I saw your post was a reality show where the pool players had to gamble for food. Steak if you win - bread and water if you lose. That might be cool. Until you saw the players cutting up the steak afterwards.........ba dum dum ;-)

Why yes i've done this before. I beat a waitress/cook out of a few cheeseburgers. I would just set up a trick shot and let her know how tough the shot was and she'd say ok it's a bet. Very nice girl. I figure all these big time gamblers that play for a livin might as well go ahead and play for food to. Like rally's says "ya gotta eat!"
