Gambler Cue build-log.

threads like this, makes a banger like me appreciate the work that goes into the cues. Thanks.

That is honestly one of the best build threads I have seen and the result is beautiful. I am not usually a mother of pearl fan but you nailed those dice and made me a fan of it in this cue for sure.

Thanks John.

I was conflicted a little about the dice...I know that Ivory would have been more traditional, but seeing as I already had the Paua shell in the design, I thought MOP would be a better fit. After seeing both shell selections together, and the way they both shimmer, I think I made the right call.

Of the 3 endmills I broke while building this cue, 2 were on the MOP.

Closeup pic of this cues Build Log, the Excel spreadsheet. I cut and paste values from my Wood Log into the Cue Log when I select my materials. All my wood is stamped with an ID, measured, weighed and logged. When I build a cue, I select the pieces I want and put them in the Cue Log, I then figure out, based on their weights, if I need to core, with what material, and so on.

Like I said, it's still being proven out, I need to document some more materials and such, but so far it gets me within .2 ounces before I even start building a cue.

The more I see the more I like, the dice are nice, the way you made them.
The Shepherd is really a beauty,my daughter marrued 2 years ago and took both of our German dogs.Looking at your avatar makes me eager for another one

Again your cue is really looking great,I am a mother of pearl fan,it probably cost as much or more than ivory when the job is done and in my mind it adds a little something.I like ivory too but its fun to mix them up sometimes

Thanks guys for all the positive comments.

Like I said in an earlier post, I was conflicted with using MOP for the dice as I too am not a big fan of MOP and how it's normally used in cues, but after seeing the results in person (hard to convey in pictures) I'm really glad I did them in MOP. I've never seen 3D dice done in MOP before, just Ivory and some other plain white material.

As for a picture of the whole cue, I'm having trouble getting a picture to turn out that shows any detail or is in focus for the entire length. I'm not too savvy with a camera yet, but working on it. Here's a blurry pic of the butt. I'll try to take a better one later.

Regards,
Frank
