Tonight after watching a couple of the video's on PROPOOLVIDEO.com, I started to think, HEY why isnt there any 8ball matches on here? I know there is 8ball tournaments that are played.

But anyways it got me to thinking about gambling, and what games people generally choose for gambling. I can generally say, that for the most part people choose 9ball for gambling cuz its quick and fast paced.

I know this that in my area, It's TOUGH to get someone to gamble at anything but 9ball, unless the person thinks its a lock. Or your playing one of the top guys. I've had times where I come into the pool hall on a weekend and cant get anyone to gamble playing 8ball, they all want to play 9ball. I even try to do 10ball, and people look at me with the WTF look lol.

Now I love to play 8ball, because it's makes you think constantly, and generally when you get back to the table, your lay out isnt the same. And saftey's are not always notice-able if played at the start of a game, unless your locked behind a ball lol.

Anyways, I do believe this has been talked about before, but if you could have your choice of billiard games to play while gambling what would it be?

I picked "other" because I don't really care if it's 14.1/9ball/onepocket/banks I took 1/2 my life learning all these games, so I don't have favorites!:)

oh, and I firmly believe gambling is all about what happens before the match making the game.

Too true.

I'm addicted to one hole right now. So that's what i picked.:)

I picked other because although I love playing 9 and 8 for money, I have been doing pretty well at 3-ball lately.

If I Had My Druthers

i picked 8-ball but most of the action i play is 9-ball.8-ball cuts out some of the rolls and puts the better/smarter player out front in my opinion.

I have recently started playing a few games not listed that I enjoy playing my friends for money: 10 ball, kelly pool, and I just learned golf. Normally I will play 9 ball though, as it is still my favorite.

I picked 8 as well. First off it's the game that other people want to play the most. Also some of the clusters and problems that come up in 8ball can make for some really interesting games. Or sometimes i want to pull my hair out after the break :)

I hesitated for a minute thinking about either 9-Ball or One Pocket; I finally settled on 9-Ball.

My favorite is not on there. What I really like is to put on my greasy overalls and my Autolite sparkplug hat, head down to the local pub, and shoehorn my way into a game of cutthroat with a couple of drunk D (or E) players who just cashed their paychecks. :D :D

Only kidding; I haven't done that for at least six months. ;)

While my favorite was on the list (one pocket), none of my second choices for gambling are there. If I can't play 1-hole, or match up in a way I like, I prefer 10-ball. If there are multiple players and we can't get a grandpa or partners game going, I like to play golf, or 3-ball.

I would have to say one pocket. Everyone that has never played it seems to think it is a simple game. It is not. Also 3 ball. I know some people think it is a bangers game but you can get alot of people involved, and it is quick.

Other: Poker

I'm not trying to be a smarta$$. I find playing pool to be its own reward, but poker, OTOH, is worthless without a wager.

Good Rolls,

3 ball

probally the most brutal game in the history of the world.its right up there with russian roulette and donkey basketball.or maybe its just a mix between the two.

I'm sure I'll offend 99.6% of the AZ population, but I despise gambling on 9 ball, and can barely tolerate the game period unless its played league style (points per ball, so riding the 9 is neither a win, nor a smart thing to do). Don't get me wrong, I do love watching a couple of top flight players going at it in 9 ball because you get to see some truly beautiful position play and great runs. In the weekly 9 ball tourney and all the "just for fun" 9 ball at my local room, you see everyone closing their eyes and kicking at the 9 ball just praying it will fall. I much, much prefer 8 ball, where you have to prove you can do something other than pull a horse shoe out of your arse with some miracle combo for the ride, or letting your opponent run out 6 or 7 balls and cleaning up the last couple for the win. Please dont interpret this post as a knock on the game of 9 ball or the people who prefer playing it.. it only takes into consideration the games at *my* local room which have turned me off of gambling on 9 ball or even wanting to play it. On a side note, I only gamble VERY occasionally (I turn down probably 9 out of 10 requests) and the ones I do accept are either from someone whos bugging the holy crap out of me and I know I can take their $5 and shut them up, or from a REALLY good player who I'm essentially paying to watch them shoot and I always get a few tips afterwards.

I picked "other" because I don't play for money. Oh, I'll play anybody for a beer...it's a good way to learn. But money? Naw, I don't gamble...I "invest" in the market.

Though I picked 9-Ball as that is what I played in my gambling days (long time ago). Today, I would have to heavily consider playing 8-Ball instead.

Ping Pong Or Sporting Clays

9 Ball If I Am Getting Weight And One-pocket If I'm Playing Someone I Know To Be Worse Than I Am.
