Spots ...
People trying to 'hustle' someone always keep a ball and a half for
themselves. If someone offers you the 7, he is still figuring that if
you get lucky, (which would mean about a ball difference in your favor),
he would still have a half ball edge on you.
Taking the 6, or 7, or 8 from someone that can always get out is not
a spot because you never get to shoot them. Try it sometime, and
count the number of times you actually get to shoot at the spotted balls.
You are much better taking 'games on the wire' rather than a ball
because they are a sure win situation not a maybe situation.
And for the guy who said he would rather play by game and not sets,
you have never evidently shot for 16 hours straight by game and broke
even .... I know I am not going to do that again, and haven't, except
for an occasional challenge table game. My time and expertise is worth
something, and I am not going to put in intense effort and concentration
on my part only to break even in the end. With sets, even if you are
even after playing several hours, you can always play one more set so
someone comes out a winner.
