Game Ball on the Spot Matches

Until yesterday I'd never watched a game ball on the spot match and it was totally worth it.

I know these guys fired at one another pretty hard and Shaw missed a 9 ball early in the match but he still
prevailed in the end.

I'm interested in what you all think of game ball on the spot. They were still making balls at the break but the patterns
seemed a little harder but since the pandemic I haven't played as much so what do you guys think?

Is game ball on the spot a thing or a passing fad?

Wow all day not one comment. Is this a Pool forum?

I don't mind it.
Some local tournaments here in Sydney play 9 on the spot..
Once you adjust your break a bit, I personally have not found many big pattern issues... But I am not a top player, so I still have to work out consistency anyway. Ha ha.

I'm indifferent to the idea. It seems kind of silly, as does the break box. I don't mind the regular break but I get that it might make it too easy for pros.

Once I saw this I was sort of in middle about it but the balls on the table did seem a bit different but Filler put one in the side 97 percent of the time and Shaw put on in the corner about as much so that is why I wanted to see what people thought about it.

I guess the lag has become the most important shot in the game.

Somewhere in the last few weeks I saw an interview with Darren Appleton where he was talking about the ball on the spot and alternating breaks as being more fair to the players which might not so bad as long as they play and don't drag it out. There is a world of difference in watching a 6 minute rack vs as 12 minute rack I'd give up watching pool if they all went 12 minutes. That is torture.

It is not a new thing at all and it its practice further proved the break can be controlled by better players.
