Gandy or National Cue with WICO points just went for $828

Just 2 of the things I've learned as a seller on eBay:

1) there's lots of idiots out there; and
2) the winning bid often fails to pay. This phenomenon gets worse the more expensive the item.

A host of reasons.
Collectible vintage cue in decent shape.
Two shafts.
Comes with period correct case.
Wico points.
Possibly $430 stuffed in the padding in the lid of period correct case.

Would still be too high

That's wild! The first cue I bought was in 1974. It is this cue, but without the points. My model is shown under Ricco Cervantes on page 78 of the third edition of the Blue Book of Pool Cues. I paid $67.20 for it with 2 shafts. I still have the cue, with original wrap and the receipt. Yeah, I'm kind of anal about my cues and pool stuff.

I wonder how many questions the buyer asked. If it is all original never refinished everything dead straight Cortland wrap no work needed that could affect originality it would bring a premium. Money is not worth what it used to be since there is no gold standard and trillions ( google that one) are PRINTED on a regular basis. It's not much more than it cost new back when they were readily available. Now they are "rare collectables" so worth more...
