Just curious.
This is all my opinion, just like you and Saku have your own opinions, but:
World Class has nothing to do with winning the World 9-ball Championships. I will agree with John, when he mentioned the US Open being a World Class event. It is and it always has been. Now that isn't to say that such events as the Japan Open or the World Championships are not World Class, but the point I'm trying to convey is that both of you are thinking like children fighting over who is right; You both think that the US is inferior in every way to everything European.
World Class is not what you two believe it is.
1. Ranking among the foremost in the world; of an international standard of excellence; of the highest order: a world-class figure skater.
1. ranked among the world's best; of the highest caliber: a world-class orchestra.
If you don't believe that Shane and the others are not World Class and you don't believe that such events as the US Open, USBTC, Derby City, and many others are not World Class, well then you need to deflate that big British ego with a pint of bitter and relax.
Edit-
This thread was originally started to ask what everyone's opinions were about if Shane and Potts played, what would happen. Then you two jumped in to say Potts would win it all, and that's fine. We will never see this match happen, because: A) It would be an exhibition B) Exhibition matches are not competition.
Shane is a world class player, in my opinion.
I don't see any other American players as world class right now - there are players capable of playing at a world class level, capable of beating the best in the world on their day, but that alone does not make you world class to me. Lots of players can play great on their day.
