Gary Abood can shoot

Stay out of his way, he'll rob you blind.

Yes, he is one of those not so well known top guns. He lives around my neck of the woods, I see him out and around at times but I believe he is on the road a good bit. From what I have been told, if you are not a pro class player you have not chance but I really don't know his speed from first hand experience.

But does he ....

Wear the stocking cap pulled down over his eyes when he is robbing you? .....lol

No doubt about it. I've never seen him play but several people I know have said the same thing. Not to mention the other guy in the picture(masked man) was Mark Ransom who is a pro caliber player.

I have seen him play several times. And yes, he can flat out shoot. No doubt, he can play with the best.

I know him personally and yes he can play a little....... I have seen him start out getting weight from real "good" players and end up giving a lot of weight all the while "robbing " them.............:D
I love watching him play...........:)

10 years ago next month (Feb 1996) he robbed the Fur Rondy (annual tourney) calcutta in Anchorage (many Ks). He is still on the wall on a plaque.

Due to an unrelated issue there has not been a calcutta in years:( .

I have played against him quite a few times. I guess he didn't apply for the IPT which is too bad because he probably would have gotten in because he is a character in addition to being a solid player and he would have blended well in any reality stuff they did, he has some pretty good real life stories and has excelled at a number of different things. I forget the details but he had a pretty severe motorcycle accident years back and still has some problems with a leg I believe. As far as his speed is concerned he would probably have been right around the 100 mark of the IPTers but capable of beating a lot of those who would be ranked higher. He plays about one notch below the likes of Tang Hoa, Max Eberle, or Ernesto Dominguez in 9 ball, but he plays all games well.

I backed a Filipino roadster against him about 5 or 6 years ago will Gary getting the 7 ball. gary used a fake name while we were honest who we were. They played 10 ahead with the 7 ball and the match was over in about two hours. Then gary challended him to five ahead one pocket for five large jelly beans. Anyone who thinks the only filipinos that can play 1 pocket are Efren, Jose, Alex, and Santos are mistaken.

I got to play him once in the Renaissance 9-ball Tournament. He never had to get out of 1st gear and dropped me 8-1 I believe. Ouch!!! Funny thing even though he had to know I was a walk-over, he played as seriously as if I were Johnny Archer.

That's the sign of a good pool player right there.
You and I both know how it easy it is to play down to your opponenet but you never see these guys do it.

This piece of shit thread should be deleted. You are destroying the guy's action. Henho you are a disgrace to poolplayers.

So, this guy came into my poolroom and hid his speed and won one of my "C" tournaments. I had added $1000 of my own money to the pool. So it is ok for him to take advantage of people that trusted him for his playing speed. Ruin his action folk, because guys like this will steal the gold from your teeth when you are taking a nap.

Yeah don't stoop to my level. There are tens of thousands of pool players that sandbag in tournaments just so they can make a little money. You can protect your tournament and tournament players by letting everyone at the poolroom know about a sandbagger, but going public and announcing what henho did is just screwed up.

When Mike Sigel was still in his heyday he was playing a relatively new/young player on the tour. Incardona was watching and thought Mike might lay down a game or two just to boost the guys spirits, but Mike CRUSHED him 11-0. Bill asked him "Why?" and Mike said the next time they played that youngster would remember that loss (whether he was a better player the next time they played or not) and Mike would have the psychological advantage. Smart thinking...

Cuetechasaurus,

You're implieing that all pool players are liars and thiefs.

Speak for yourself.

It would be fortunate if pool players could match up as gentleman, and be honest...but that never seems to be the case. Happened to me this weekend and just disgusts me.

He is not knocking his "action", he is knocking his "hustle". I respect gamblers (and I use that as a term of respect), but not hustlers.

Well part of me thinks if this guy is robbing "C" player tournaments and is pro speed, he is bound to generate alot of animosity and people wanting to knock his action. This would seem to be the other shoe dropping so to speak.

On the other hand, if tournament directors are running "C" tournaments with four figure added money, then they should be the ones on the hotseat if a Great White is allowed to swim with the guppies.
