GC1 Rail Rebuild and New Leveling System

I sent my GC1 rails to Jack Zimmerman for a sub-rail replacement, rubber, and cloth. He did a great job at a very reasonable price. I bought the table 6 months ago from a guy who wasn't a player. He bought it from an upstanding pool mechanic who failed to tell him the rails had been wet and some wood was actually rotten or missing! I lived with it initially until I could find someone to rebuild the rails. Got Jack's name from some one this site. He did what he said he would do, for a fair price and had the rails done within a week of receiving them. His info is jackzimmerman72@gmail.com

I have also created a mechanical leveling system for the 1-3 GC tables that works great and you can easily install it yourself. It consist of t-nuts and 1/4" thin headed bolts. It worked well enough for me to get the entire table to within .0015 level. I know that tolerance isn't necessary but with this system it is easily accomplished. I couldn't upload all the picks so here are a couple. For more pics go to sharkbilliards.com then to table page.

Good stuff! Wonder how that much water damage occurred... that's weird!

Read your site. Nice pictures.
Bold statement here. "You can move from a Level 1-3 player to a 7 or higher in 1 year with proper training!"

Do you have any pics of the full table after restoration? I know I’d love to see some.

Jack is great. He setup my GC1 about a year ago. My rails were in great shape, the original monarch rubber is still good. Nice to know Jack is just 60 miles from me if I need a rebuild someday.

Enjoy your beautiful table!

I am living proof. It takes a great deal of time and effort on the student's part but there is no reason why pool can't be taught and learned in an incremental manner like many other things.

It honestly looks like everyone else's GC1 but it plays beautifully!

I wish I knew your training methods. I’ve been playing for 50 years and am not at an APA level 7 yet.
Of course I only play about an hour or 2 a day. My job, education wife and life all keep getting in the way.

Nice table? What size corners you go with? And the leveling system is pretty neat. Every time I see work done by Jack it's superb. He's one of the maybe 4 people I'd have redo rails for me, no doubt.

On the SL7 thing, I started APA as an SL4 in 2005 and was an SL7 by Fall 2008. Just played alot.

That is more in line with what can be possible.

I am guessing you shot a lot of games in the league over those years. Did you practice an organized curriculum with skill development drills 2-3 hours a day, 5 days a week with an instructor critiquing you and coaching you weekly? Most folks aren't going to work hard enough to improve that much in a year but it can be done because I did it. Your skepticism is justified because your opinion is based on what most people are capable of accomplishing. Never set your goals by what other people think your capable of!
