I stained the rail blinds and sides of the legs on my GCI in my profile profile picture, it was originally painted white, I had to mix 2 different stains together to get something that comes close to matching. Good luck with that.View attachment 782338
I haven't used this but Im pretty sure it's what was used in the Billiards of New Orleans video where a Gold Crown III was restored.
Touching up stain is an effort in futility. You can try these.Anyone worked a good color code/brand for a mahogany GC3? Want to touch up my aprons/skirts/ball holder
It's actually not for an experienced woodworker. I've done projects for end tables, coffee tables, where the finish was actually totally off in areas and was able to stain and finish back portions without doing the whole top, and where I can say with certainty you would not be able to tell it was repaired. It's not for the faint of heart, and not going to be done with that Mohawk stain, I actually have some of that though and it probably would work on a full panel. The easiest way to do touch up stain is with gel stains, It usually takes at least three different shades and various amounts of ea, but odds are slim you will be able to do it with a stock color unless you are doing a whole panel and not just a spot or small area.Touching up stain is an effort in futility.
