GC4 is my fave just because it was first GC with flush-fit pockets. Also has built in slate-levelers that some use and some don't. Early ones' used left over GC3 frames and can sag at the ends if not modified(easy-cheap). If bolts are tight and people don't park their fat asses on the end rails its usually not an issue. Later 4's had frames with the ends between the side beams. Great tables either way.Found an oversized 8' GC4 in my home town for $1500. Looks in good shape. What's everyone's thoughts on GC4 vs GC2/3?
The Steepleton it is replacing is a pro 8. The space is 15' x 21'. The 9' would fit *barely*Does the 8' fit better in you house? I love my GC3 8'. To me you are better off with the local 8' over the out of town 9'
A 9' would be tight on the sides but I would prefer it over a Pro 8.The Steepleton it is replacing is a pro 8. The space is 15' x 21'. The 9' would fit *barely*
Yep love my 9’ GC IV!I prefer 9' but the IV is a fine table. Flush pockets, no counters, no nameplate, wider rails and slate levelers.
Yeah, I'm going to do some testing possibly by taping cardboard to my existing table to make 50"x100" play surface and see if it fits. I'm still checking. Local guy selling a GCIV says it's an oversized 8 which is not exactly 8 1/2 but bigger than an 8.Buy what fits. Just curious, what's an oversized 8ft? I would think it's 8 ft or not an 8 ft? did they make an 8 1/2 ft ?
Yeah, I found a guy selling several GC3 with "after market" castings that appear to sit flush. Still trying to figure out what he means by after market castingsI have a GC3 9 foot and love it. But I would rather have a GC4 9 foot because of the flush pockets.
show offI'm tight on the ends but have a shorty cue that maybe gets used on 5% of the shots.

Brunswick used to side their slates….required under size slates…..then they went to the modern way, screwing straight down.Buy what fits. Just curious, what's an oversized 8ft? I would think it's 8 ft or not an 8 ft? did they make an 8 1/2 ft ?
except when I play there, put a 9 in front of the 5 lolI'm tight on the ends but have a shorty cue that maybe gets used on 5% of the shots.
